Am I the only person alive that doesn't have instant messaging?
Should I get it?

Which one is best or do you have to have a bunch of them?

I was made fun of at work yesterday because I don't use it here. I'm worried that I spend enough time here, that IM would really keep me distracted..

1. I don't have it either.
And I'm a 21 year old male. That's unheard of!

8. It's that chat capability software where you can chat with other members
ICQ, Yahoo Messenger are a couple of these.

7. Can't live without it
And it's one of the best ways in the world to actually communicate with your own kids.... in your own house. They might not talk to you... but they will IM!

17. Too true
I refuse to answer most of the time. They want to discuss things through IM when I am 20 feet away! I often turn off my IM just so my kids don't IM me. :eyes:

I like IM. I keep it off most of the time but it's fun to chat. I know my sisters and I use it when we plan family events. It's much easier than exchanging emails and phone calls.

10. Have the Yahoo
here at work and home. My honey and I are on it all day at work, and we live together. Just a great way to communicate with other people that you can't see all of the time.

GEP

12. Bah...
...just one more way to chain us to our machines. Stay free. And throw your cell phone away while you're at it.

13. AIM is probably the most popular...
Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 12:56 PM by TreasonousBastard
it's a free download and you don't have to be an AOLer to use it.

I've got AIM and ICQ, but I rarely turn them on. (they don't bother you if they're off )

They come in handy for sending some files and things, but I rarely spend time chatting. I use the phone for that.

I suppose 90% of the time I use them, it's because I'm on the phone with someone and we want to trade url's, short quotes, etc. and it's easier than emailing the stuff back and forth.

Curiously, I tend to get spam on ICQ when it's on.

14. I can't stand them
I like to talk to people when I want to talk to people, not when they want to talk to me :)

I refuse to get a cell phone for the same reason.

Now that I think about it,I'm a pretty asocial guy! :D

19. I don't use it at work, but at home I run it sometimes.
It's a good way to keep in touch with friends that don't live close by. Cheaper than long distance. :-)

If I am worried about distractions, I turn it off. :-)
