Good morning Lounge
How was your weekend? Did you watch parts of the Inauguration??? I watched Obama's short speech yesterday. Looking forward to his inauguration tomorrow and his speech.
I unpacked some more over the weekend but also goofed off. A quiet weekend. And I got my old apartment clean. I am done there. Just have to hand over the keys.
So now it is back to work. Still have a bunch of books to correct. It is a neverending story :D

Picture of the Day (No, that is not me)

4. My invitation was in the mail when I got back here last week
I fedexed it to my daughter who is in DC anyway.

Besides, it's freezing in DC, and I have work to do here.
Plus, I hadn't seen my wife since Jan. 2, and it was time.

Somehow, I don't think they'll postpone the inauguration
due to my absence....

2. Well Good Morning MissHoneyChurch
That picture looks pretty awesome and I have to say I'm a bit jealous. And you'll find over the next few hours that The Lounge is having a bit of fun before the mods wake up.

you mean that Pierre guy??? Is he a troll?

Not sure if you need to be jealous. That water was freezing. It was in the Ukraine on the Krim. The spring is supposed to be a fountain of youth. A lot of people were there. I was lucky to take a pic with only that girl. I like the pic though.

I actually feel bad for the Lounge mods because we're making their lives difficult. But sometimes it's just too hard to resist.

I never would have guessed that you weren't native :D

I have a friend that's an IT person for BASF in Ludwigshafen and her English is also quite good, partly for her job.

So, don't worry about it; I'll either figure it out or you'll mention it again in some other context.

I was a nanny in the U.S. and also did an internship there. Then I read a lot of English books and of course posting here on DU helps a lot too. :D
But every now and then my grammar gets messed up or I translate German words into English without getting the meaning correctly.

16. Good morning to you! Moving is a hassle no mater how you
go about it. I remember one time a while back that I had so many things to do that I literally had to sit down and make a list. There were about 50 things that I had to do. None could be neglected. I actually numbered them and rewrote them according to priority and checked each one off. Among the last was unpacking. Ohhhh it makes my one cell brain hurt just to think about it now. LOL. Sounds like you have the most of the storm behind you. Anyway, good morning.:toast: :toast:

Maybe I should have made a list too. It is a hassle to remember who to inform that you moved. Like the magazines I subscribed, my bank (just remembered that yesterday after I got a letter from my bank at my old adress) .... etc.

I still have some boxes to unpack. Wanna come over and help? :D

Yes, the stress is really the hardest part. I am so glad I decided to use professional movers this time and not my friends and family to move all my stuff. The unpacking is partly fun partly annoying as I don't know where to put everything.

not everyone has off. Most government offices are closed or working with a minimal staff, as is the post office, etc. I think most schools are off too.

Me? Yeah, I've got to work. But that's okay, it's going to be a busy week, and I can't afford to take a day off.

I had electricity and heat at the house, but my water froze up Thursday night late. We finally got it thawed Sunday. I had to, like, work Friday and Saturday and felt stinky and unshaven. I usually don't notice the unshaven part. I do that all the time.

Yes, it got warmer again over the last days. Which sucks. I liked the snow and didn't mind the cold too much. It is gray and rainy now. Maybe we get your weather in some days once it moved over the Atlantic.

Did you ever post your Germany pics on DU?

69. Hello there
:hi: :loveya:

Love me new residence. Not totally settled in but it gets better day by day.

Haven't made any plans yet but I think we wait till it is a bit warmer so we can walk around and I can give her a tour of Frankfurt.

And you better show up sooner or later too!!!!

:loveya:
