If I were in charge of professional sports leauges...
MLB: The utter abomination known as the Designated Hitter Rule would be abolished. In REAL baseball, pitchers bat.

Salary Caps would be instituted. If the MLBPA doesn't like it and strikes, then open tryouts for replacement players would be held and the season will be played. Unions are for the working people, not millionaires.

NFL: Crack down on bad behavior off the field. This should result in the Dallas Cowboys having to forfeit every game in the season due to all of their players serving suspensions.

The Detroit Lions would be put out of their misery and replace with a new team.

NHL: One standing order to all officials: Let the boys fight.

I would look in to the relocation of all teams located in cities that have no business having NHL franchises such as Miami, Tampa, Nashville, Dallas, Raleigh, and Phoenix, and move them to cities such as Hartford, Winnipeg, Milwaukee, and other cities with more appropriate climes. I would also be open to moving these teams to European cities.

Gary Bettman will be flogged at center ice at every arena in the league.

NBA: Introduce the refs to a little concept known as traveling, players should not be able to get away with taking three or four steps without dribbling as they go in for a layup or dunk.

For the benefit of the female fans, bring back short shorts.

MLS: Delay further expansion of the league until the current economic crisis passes. Other than that, stay the course.

NASCAR: At least half of the races in the season will be run on road courses includings Mosport, Road America, Mid-Ohio, Laguna Seca, and the Belle Isle course.

No more of this "Car of Tomorrow" bullshit. All race cars will be required to be based on an actual car off the lot.

One race per year will be held on a dirt track.

Start up a racing series for electric vehicles in order to help spur new technological advances.

One of the Nextel Cup races will be held at the Milwaukee Mile.

2. No, that's the National Leauge.
The Designated hitter is as big an abomination as aluminum bats.

6. You probably did see that.
In interleague play, they use the rules of the home team.

3. I think George Carlin had a good one about auto racing.
He suggested planting a few land mines on the track to make it more entertaining for the spectators.

4. MLB: Dump interleague
After the DH, interleague play is baseball's second-biggest mistake. It was bad enough when three-tiered divisional play forced ball clubs to play out-of-division clubs fewer times per year, but then they had to water it down even more. Games between leagues should be played only in October.

• Get rid of every goddamn yellow line. It ain't a homer unless it's in the seats. Period. (Unless it kicks off the base of the wall in Triples Alley and squirts past two outfielders and the hitter legs it.)

• When a hitter gets thrown at, let the other guys retaliate. The "purpose pitch" was a part of baseball long before batting helmets, much less the body armor that some guys wear now. When an umpire warns both benches the first time a hitter gets one up and in, a defensive weapon is taken away from the other club. Besides — more chin music means more fights, and baseball fights are fun. :D
