Squirrels are the comic relief at the backyard birdfeeders
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 09:52 AM by cryingshame
we have a lot of feeders and there's one little hanging rectagular basket that holds a block of suet.

Squirrelie is hanging upside down, suspended from his little hind feet going after it.

Wish I had a zoom lens on the camera cause it looks really funny.

Some people don't like squirrels but I think they are a riot.

Here's one funny photo from a great magazine "Birdsandblooms"

1. When our mesquite pods drop, my backyard is flooded with ground squirrels. I sit at the patio table
about 10 feet from the tree just watching and grinning and giggling--and I never have to clean up the pods off of our quartz groundcover; those guys are ultra-efficient!

2. I just had a squirrel run up...
the side of the house and hang upside down at one of the bird feeders. Then, three mice kept darting out to grab the seeds that fell on the ground.

Only two birds showed up so far today, but that feeder is almost empty.

Yeah, squirrels can be annoying, but they are fun.

3. Squirrels definitely help us not take ourselves too seriously.
What wonderful scattered energy.
