Pissed off with computers
I seem to be a magnet for computer problems. If something can go wrong, it usually happens to me.

I'm at home and my sound goes out when I try to watch online video. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it--reinstalling drivers, checking cables/speakers, using system restores, buying a new sound card and installing its drivers, and basically everything else I could find on the internet--to no avail.

If it weren't so late, and I so tired, my computer would probably be flying out the window by now.

1. I used to be a magnet for problems too.
The kind where the tech says, "I've never seen this kind of problem before in my life! That'll be $400 for the repair, please."

I stopped seeing those kinds of problems when I stopped buying name-brand machines and had them custom-built, using AMD chips :)

6. I get that a lot too, at work
The fun ones are when they can't do anything, but the problem magically fixes itself a couple days later.

5. A little help please
Where is that key on my keyboard? I don't see it. Maybe the new one I'm looking at buying will have it. ;-)

(Actually, that might be a good idea--program one of the programmable keys to be a "reboot" key.)

3. I have a similar problem with my mom's PC.
I have a wireless router so she can have a PC too.

She has a Netflix account, but can barely hear the sound on instant movies. I get them just fine on mine. She gets good sound on everything else. I don't understand it.

Do you happen to run Vista? Gawd, what a pain in the ass!

4. Try playing a music cd if the sound goes.
My laptop's sound would go out and playing a music cd would bring it back.

Don't ask me why, it just worked.
