I find it intriguing that you are staying with a former Governor of Mississippi and Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. I'm sure he has some interesting stories to tell about both Mississippi and Saudi Arabia!

I also have a great deal of respect for Mabus because, despite being a Clinton appointee and a former politician from one of the most conservative states in the country, he came out and endorsed and campaigned for Obama during the primary season. So you are staying with one of the people who believed in Obama from early on. He must be a special guest at this inauguration

You are also staying with a person whom, had it not been for his defeat in the 1991 gubernational election, could well have been President of the United States instead of Clinton. Mabus was reportedly planning a presidential bid before his defeat and was about the same age and had a similar background to that of Clinton. Had he sought the presidential nomination, who knows?

But of course you knew all that! How lucky are you?

Mabus is one of my political heroes. I am green with envy that you are staying with him but a person of your kindness, compassion, warmth and generosity of spirit deserves such a special privilege.
