Has anyone see the made for tv movie "Live from Baghdad"?
It's on HBO right now. It starts Micheal Keaton and Helena Bonham Carter. It's about CNN reporters covering the first Gulf War. (You know, the war that made CNN famous)

The problem is...I don't know whether to laugh or cry. In some ways it is high humor. At one point, someone from the Ministry of Infor tells the CNN producer they're giving them some piece of equipment because..."You are fair and balanced". WTF? I thought that was Fox's line?

The one thing I have gleaned from the movie is that it's in Baghdad that CNN first learned that if you want to get the story, your best bet is to suck up to the government and let them tell you what the story is.

Of course in the movie, the characters are all 'struggling' with the ethical dilemma of how far to sell their souls for 'the story'. Guess we all know how that dilemma was resolved!

Anyway, it's kind of freaking me out because I read so much from the reporters in Baghdad in the run up to this war and it's like the same freaking story.

And the characters are all taking themselves so seriously in their efforts to report the 'truth'....

Oh and Baghdad Bob is in it too.

Thanks for listening. This movie is bizarre..
