Update on the death of the hard drive
I got a new hard drive and yesterday I finally installed it.

Loaded Windows, got the network set up and did not have to call Microsoft to activate Windows

:woohoo:

The only thing I have left to do is install the webcam.

2. Dang, I'm jealous. I've been having such probs, I feel a reformat in my future too.
But then maybe I'll get to celebrate like you. Have remnant uninstalls floating around f-icking with my connectivity. Can't purge 'em from the registry no matter what I do. Cheers to you though. Gives me some hope.

3. I thought you were talking about a generational advance in computer technology or something.
MacWorld headline: "THE DEATH OF THE HARD-DRIVE - The hard drive: the Betamax of information storage dynamics? See cover story, page 52." B-)

11. I've been thinking about getting one...
A friend of mine has one, and we want to see each other when we talk.

What brand do you have?

Are they complicated?

13. We have a Logitec that has a built in microphone
All I had to do to get it working was install the software that came with it and hook up the webcam.

It did take us awhile to figure out which instant messaging program worked the best with the webcam. We are using what used to be called MSN messenger for our video chats. Yahoo messenger was way too wonky.

12. Congratz! I recently had a power supply crash kill my XP install. :(
I salvaged the hard disk but I was very bummed as I was going on my sixth straight year on that install.

14. UGGH.
I was just so glad that changing the hard drive was not enough to get the Microsoft anti piracy nazis after me.
