Let's start a band
1. First what do you play?

2. And what are your influences?

3. And how cool are you, really? Do you wear enough black?

1.
For me I play drums ( taking lessons, too) to improve my "independence", some guitar, some bass, and keyboards. Have sung some backup as well. No lead though, don't have the pipes.

2.Influences, hmmm

Patti Smith
The Pogues
The Clash
The Ramones
Scrawl
The Bangles
maybe The Go, Gos... they could really bash at times IMHO

3. Hell is not freezing over. I do have a lot of black clothes.

Roger McGuinn

15. We're a minority, but we exist nonetheless
What kind of mandolin do you play? Me father owned a spruce one from the Mid-Missouri Mandolin Co. before trading it for a mahogany one. Frankly I think the mahogany sounds better. He was lucky to find those. He's a lefty. My brother and I feel that he learned to play guitar left handed so his children wouldn't be able to play his instruments. ;)

hav eto play between 5 and 8. And there was the lack of $ problem and gun-toting clubowners, yes. And the indifference of those leaning against the wall. But chicks in the band doesn't always mean a problem... so is that why there aren't more women in bands! Just kidding, I think.

1. I play string, key, drum, wind. I mean literally -- ask RandomKoolzip, dolo amber, or Short Bus. I play one string, one drum, etc.

I sing. Ha ha ha ha, I know "that's what you call singing?" Buggers, the lot of you.

I use recorder-thing (or, as the frighteningly egotistical call it, "produce"). Sometimes I don't stop and start at the right times.

I write bad songs about bad people doing bad things.

2. My influences are easily discernable with a single listening of the crappy music I make. Anybody who's heard wanna take a crack at it?

3. I have some black. I prefer to wear my denim suit, though. Or my gold lame suit (the lack of an accent is intentional). Nonetheless, I'm way cooler than you nimrods.

on edit: Check http://www.whoisalhedges.com for the skinny on my rock and/or roll.

I'm not quite low enough to be considered alto. My range would be similar to (mind you, I said range, not vocal style) Madonna or Bonnie Raitt, or Shawn Colvin. (I wish I could say Aimee Mann, but she often is just a little too low for me).
