Somebody up there likes me.
Yesterday we buried my best friend's Mom. She died on Christmas Day. I've known the family for over 30 years and used to date his sister. We went to both Jr. and Sr. proms together.

I didn't make the service Sunday night because I live in the mountains and couldn't get down the hill for it. So I went to the funeral yesterday and then to a small get together afterwards. We celebrated her life over a few beers and shots of tequila. It was actually quite nice, if not a little subdued. I heard someone ask "Did you tell Chris yet?" The answer was "Shhh! Not until Cindy leaves!" Cindy was the sister I dated.

Well after Cindy left everyone gathered round and I was told that while going through their Mom's personal stuff after Christmas, they found a prom picture from our senior year. I had been cut out of it! While they were going through the rest, they found the cutout of me! Seems Paula, the Mom, had fished the cutout of me out of the trash and saved it. Everyone but Cindy thought it was cute, funny, sentimental, etc. Cindy threw me in the trash again. Again, I was fished out of the trash and saved. They're going to save the picture with their momentoes of her.

Paula was always more than pleasant to me. I never talked to my best friend without enquiring about her. She died after a two week illness.

Someone up there likes me and her name is Paula.

I just wanted to share that.

1. But Cindy, apparently, does NOT.
Dude, did you break her heart or something?

Great story, though. :hi:
