Poll question: Which is your favorite '80s Doctor?
Doctor Who, of course...

1. I liked both Davidson and McCoy
I really liked the companions of these Doctors too:Andric, Teagen, Nyssa, Turlough with Davidson and Ace with McCoy. Baker was just a little too corny for me.

I liked Tegan. Turlough had great potential.

Nyssa was just a story cypher, repeating everything Davison said. She sadly did nothing until "Terminus", where she was able to make use of her skills and leave.

Adric... Behind the scenes, the actor (new to the field) was a bit awkward. The character might have been mishandled as well, but his acting was okay...

I did enjoy the 5th Doctor's character, although his blandness was in part responsible or the 6th Doctor being a bit more exciteable... :D

Ace freakin' rules, though they could have chosen a better costume for McCoy... once they figured out what to do with McCoy's role, the show really picked up again. (I will say that the TV seris' story novelizations come across as being better than what was produced and televised... couldn't stand the Virgin Book "New Adventures" series though...)

And I rather like Colin's Doctor... the era could have been handled a bit better, but it was certainly passable. The comparatively modern Virgin and BBC Books novels using his Doctor, apart from "The Quantum Archangel" which is utter trash, are tremendously good and show how good his era could have been. A great pity...

But I forgot the other three companions: Mel, whose character worked for the 6th Doctor but turned into a Victoria-wannabe for the 7th... And the remaining characters were attached to the same actress. :eyes: As a character, Peri had potential, but somebody had other thoughts (and it wasn't the show's producer for one rather good reason!)... But Ace, I hate to admit it but she's probably the best companion ever.

2. Colin Baker was a snot.
I never liked him.

But Tom Baker I have a special fondness for, I met him at a Whovian convention in Milwaukee.
Great guy.

14. Colin had a morbid fear of spiders
So some pranksters in the writing staff included a page in the script for one episode where it called for him to be stripped down to his shorts and dumped in a room full of spiders. Just keep that in mind and his snottiness is balanced a bit.

13. Davison gets a bad rap, but I went for McCoy.
I know how you feel about him, and he was let down by some pretty poor scripts, but I liked the characterization.
