2. Thank goodness that's not really a New Year's tradition 'round these parts
Most likely because it's always frickin' freezing. This year--foot of snow that all fell last night. Bonus!

3. fireworks, shotguns, and rifles
I was just out there smoking. I was even hollering at the puppy for being clingy beforehand. Hec, I couldn't hear nuttin til I went out to smoke.

Cigarettes saved my puppy.

7. I hope they are handling it well.
That can't be making your new year very much fun. :(

10. I am doing pretty well.
Friends came over to hang out. We cooked. They drank. We played music and talked and joked.

I introduced two of my younger bi-girl friends and now they're hooking up. Young lust is so cute. :P

We toasted the new year with chocolate truffles with alcohol inside. :9

11. You never introduce me to your younger bi-girlfriends. Why?

Glad you had a good evening, Thom.

5. That's one of the great things about adopting a deaf dog.
Fireworks have never bothered her, you can vacuum the carpet w/o waking her, she doesn't bark when she hears other dogs, the list goes on and on. She does get upset about visual incongruities, however.

14. The beagle is downright weird about the vaccum. She actually comes when
I get the vaccum out, and stands right next to me while I vacuum. I think she's trying to protect me from it. Most animals run the other way. Not the beagle.

Fireworks do scare her, though. But fireworks aren't a big New Year's tradition here.

6. All quiet on the western front so far this evening.
It's only 9:00 pm, though, so who knows. Might still hear some, but I hope to god not. My furbabies don't like 'em either.

8. Not as great a display from my neighbor across the street this time.
He usually puts on an almost professional display complete with booming multicolored fireworks, like the city does. I miss his greater work tonight. He's just dicking around with a bunch of pesky little firecrackers right now. He might as well be holding a lighter in a certain strategic location and blowing hard. :(
