I know you Minnesotans and Wisconsians aren't going to be sympathetic, but
good Lord, it's four degrees out there, with a wind chill of approximately One Minute To Finger Loss Due To Frostbite.

Dang, am I ever glad we got those propane firelogs for the fireplace.

And am I even more glad I have a nice warm wife waiting upstairs in bed for me.

Happy New Year, all.

5. Thanks, Peg. I went to my doctor this morning, and the situation seems to be
coming along pretty well. And I've lost 31 pounds since July; too bad it's because I haven't felt like eating, but good nonetheless.

At least we'll be rid of this wretched year soon (Wretched, that is, except for that wonderful election).

The good thing about being at the bottom is that there's no way to go but up.

Enjoy.

2. It's a balmy 10 above here, much better than the
13 below yesterday!

6. Yowsa! 13 below? Having grown up in Vermont, I remember what that's like.

9. The record low here was 33 below in February of 1996.
And this is southern Minnesota!

10. I remember one night in Vermont when I was a kid, and it was 30 below...our next-
door neighbor's barn caught fire, and it just ended up burning itself out, because they couldn't get the fire trucks started.

30 below is truly vicious, even by Northern standards.

11. Just because we live it
doesn't mean we like it.

Happy New Year, Redstone.

May 2009 be one where hopes are realized.

13. The wind is daft. No way to properly seal windows against this.
Brrr. Brrr. Brrr.
