2. I like it when Ralphies Dad jumps in the box and says it could be anything.
Also the fact that the leg lamp had to sent in such big, heavy box.

7. You could make a spare room out of the box.
Packing boxes were made out of real wood back then.

My old house has a hall way made of packing boxes from the 1930's, that is serious wood.

and it was decent quality too. Not the knotty scrap things are shipped in today, like you said it could be reused.

12. It is beautiful wood.
Some stores gave the boxes away.

During WWII, the boxes were really hard to get.

I had a neighbor who worked in grocery stores back then.

He said the boxes had to be kept inside the back of the store if you wanted to keep them.

The stores would use the boxes instead of sacks.
