Not feeling very merry
I had a scooter accident at the end of October and have been on disability since then. My short term disability check is $400 less each pay than my regular check.

So many people have been so kind to me during the course of my recovery by way of letting me stay at their place, giving me rides to doctor appointments and even buying me food.

I have ZERO extra with which to buy gifts as a way to show my thanks. I feel so bad.

I don't even know how I'll pay all of my bills in January, let alone my rent.

Sorry for a not so cheery Christmas Eve message.

Thanks for reading this.

1. You've given your friends the gift of allowing them to help you.
That counts for a lot. I hope that things come together with ease and grace.

6. Thanks, Peake...in the Jewish tradition it is a good
thing to give another person the opportunity to perform a good deed.

People understand and you will find a way to make it through. 'm having a bologna sandwich tonight. I'll make an extra one for you.

4. I had a Vespa GT 200 in
daring plum. I LOVED that scooter. I'll get another one.

Thanks for the virtual sandwich. I went through a balogna phase this past summer.

8. Sweet scoot! I recently bought a Chinese scoot...
A Linhai 300cc which is a Yamaha clone (comes from a Yamaha factory in China). Can't wait for it to get warm again. I love the economy and the just plain fun of riding it.

12. Pretty scooter!!
Will you be able to get it serviced? Does it take Yamaha parts?

I named my scooter. His name was Spunky.

16. There's a place locally that services it. It will take many Yamaha parts.
It even "off-roads" as in this from earlier this year:

9. I'm sorry you're in such a tough spot.

Let's look at it this way. You are able to access the internet. I guess (but don't know) that you haven't suffered an injury that will affect you long term.
You have a personal network of friends and this virtual network to talk to and get help from. It could be worse and I don't say that to lessen your situation........ :)

10. I have reminded myself many times that it could be worse
I was in traffic and my scooter's back tire hit gravel and down we went. I didn't hit anyone and no one hit me. The car in front of me was driven by a doctor who kind of triaged me while I waited for the ambulance.

I sustained a complete tear to the rotator cuff on my left shoulder. I type with one hand as I cannot yet lift my left arm to keyboard height.

14. Hey...I'm in a really tough spot myself here
In fact, most of my family is in a really tough spot this year ( for that matter, last year as well ) None of us are buying presents this year....none, because we decided that we don't need presents to give each other. It's kind of awkward, I know...but just accept it. You sound like you are in pretty much the same situation I'm in, and I can't afford to even send a fucking card to people!!

Oh, as far as your rent goes, the ONLY thing that saved me from paying mine late was the fact that my job closes down today, and yesterday we received two paychecks ( the second one was for January 2nd when we are due back ) and my rent is due on the 28th. Right now, I am short about $70.00 my share, but the good thing ( again I got lucky ) is I can deposit the second check on Tuesday, which ensures the rent will be paid ( although late ) but right now I'm fortunate enough to have a roommate cover me for that till Tuesday. I pretty much live paycheck to paycheck myself

I hope your situation improves, I really do...

15. I used to tell a girl I loved, "No one stays down forever".
She remembers it to this day, some 20 years later. She always says, "A wise man once told me..." So I send to you all the cyber cheer I am able. This is only what's happening now. Try to look in the larger context when able.

Peace.
