1. I dunno
My grey kitties can get to refrigerator height too. So I don't think its just calicos...When you've seen a cat jump off an entertainment center to use your curtains as a vine, tarzan like or jump and LAND on a hanging picture..thats nuts!

paranormal stuff. So that's pretty cool. Plus, the Egyptians seem to like 'em.

27. Yes.
I think it's the funny genes they have.

As for jumping--Grayson gets a running start, bounces off the toilet seat (lid closed, fortunately), whangs against the sliding shower door and ends up on top of the frame for the shower door.

Right off the floor. It is like they can levitate somehow.

As for calicoes and are they nuts? Yeah, but no more than any other cat, I don't think. I have yet to meet a cat that is "normal." They DO come is varying degrees of batshit crazy, however and some of the strangest agents I have seen have been tabbies rather than calicoes.

Just sayin...

36. So good to see you, JB!

Hope you've been well and happy! Sounds like you have been amused by Lilith at a very minimum!

Seems to me, that all kitties have their own distinct personality and play style and it is one of their peculiar attractions, I think.

Chaucer (otherwise known as Fattipuss Rex) our male cat will actually lay it wait for Material Girl to come out of the bathroom. When she comes out he'll jump straight up in the air and then chase her when she squeals and takes off running. They both find it terribly diverting, but with him weighing in at 16 pounds and her being 11 years old you'd be amazed at how MUCH noise they generate together.

Kev and I just shake our heads and laugh when we hear her squeal, but I have NEVER had an adult cat play like that with a human--usually they do that with other cats. Chaucer is kinda different, I guess.

As for Lilith sitting on top of your fridge, I think cats LIKE to sit high up so they can survey the entire room. If you have a taller cat tree does she like to sleep on top of it too? I bet she'd really enjoy an elevated platform to hang out on if she doesn't already have one. Unless you have objections to her up on the fridge and you work to discourage it, this may be one of her favorite places over time.

Good to see you, and have a Merry Christmas if I don't talk to you in the meantime!

Laura

37. Lilith tries her best to climb the book case
I have every confidence that she will some day succeed . She is just six mo old!

She also loves being in confined places. I have a big measuring cup (holds 64 OZ ) and she loves getting in it Heck , I just rinse it out before I use it --cat hair ya know!

This is her home and she can go where ever she likes , and she sure doesn't need permission

Merry Christmas to you , and especially to the Material Girl! Hard to believe she is 11 already ! My g' daughter Ashlee is eleven and WHAT A TRIP THAT IS!!She is one of my favorite people. It is a magical age, and by the way , when did eleven year olds get so smart????

29. My calico does the same thing.
She jumps from the table to the refrigerator. She loves to nap on top of the refrigerator - I guess it's warm and it hums. I love it when she jumps straight up in the air - it's like a cartoon cat. And she will play "fetch" with a small ball for hours. And of course she likes to smash her ice-cold nose against my face when I'm sleeping. Also, I think she may have multiple personality disorder, as she sometimes appears to believe she is a vicious puma.

31. we had a calico. She was totally crazy. Hated people with a passion.
She hated to come indoors. After a long winter she would go hunting for days in the spring. We would see her walking on the top of people's garages, and our house etc. When she was in the house, she mapped out her own territory and by god everybody had to stay away. She and I would fight at least once a day, just for fun. She finally left one day and never returned. We tried our best to find her. She was just this side of a wild cat.

Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 12:19 PM by JitterbugPerfume
she thinks "people" is the same as "scratching post"

My other cat Tansy disappears for days in warm weather but she ( like me) is getting old so she stays indoors in winter now.

for the first six years of her life.
Not a day passed without a kill
lizards, snakes, voles, mice, rabbits, birds, chipmunks...
but she has completely knocked it off for the past two years
