Watching a Flintstones Christmas...
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 05:33 PM by Drunken Irishman
Santa injures himself on Fred's roof so he and Barney have to deliver all the toys to kids around the world.

A) It's nighttime in every country on the face of the earth, since they travel to China, which has to be on the other side of the globe from Bedrock, right? Wouldn't Santa have already hit that country up prior to arriving at Fred's house?

B) This was made in the 60s and did the Chinese really celebrate Christmas back then? Sure, they're becoming more western now, but in the 60s? Seriously?

C) The Flintstones take place during the Stone Age, which occurred long before Christ was even born. So how could there be a Christmas, a holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, if he hadn't even been born yet?

IT MAKES NO SENSE!

1. Funny you mention the Chinese
We're good friends with the family that owns our favorite take out place and while waiting for my order yesterday we were chatting about how they were going to spend the holidays. They don't care much for it but they celebrate it for their kids who were born here and like to do what their friends do.

And since all their kids toys are probably made there it helps support their fellow countrymen back home ;)

2. You'd expect better things from a Flintstones special
Some scientific accuracy, for Pete's sake. Not to mention historical accuracy! :grr:

4. Spoiler -- I've never seen it!
You really should put a spoiler alert on your subject line. You ruined the show for me.

5. Was it the part about Christ's birth?
Damn, I knew I shouldn't have mentioned that potential spoiler!
