for a small loan for the car. Will get the 2008 model, sell my current vehicle, (already have a buyer), pay back a good chunk of the loan immediately, and then refi the amount left.

Now...fingers crossed for that camera to come my way! (dreaming....)

As for the iPhone, I might actually get one of those for my nephew for his 18th in February. He only needs an MP3 player, but I'm thinking, while I'm at it . . . He does a lot of texting and plays games on his phone. Maybe. What do you think?

Apple gouges you on memory.

A full 32Mb from MacSales (OtherWorldComputing): http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/64FB4MPK32GB/

That's $1249 compared to $9100 for the upgrade from 2Gb to 32Gb from Apple.

42. Theres really nothing
I have everything I need and most of what I can imagine atop that. There are frivolities that I would enjoy, but theres nothing I actually want just for me. I want financial safety for my family, happiness for those I love, and a change in the world so that people can live their lives with as much or little dignity as they could want.

Check that.. I want a new world, where everything is better for everyone else and I can stop worrying about yall.

53. I think Steve Martin said it best:
"If I had one wish that I could wish this holiday season, it would be that all the children to join hands and sing together in the spirit of harmony and peace. If I had two wishes I could make this holiday season, the first would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing in the spirit of harmony and peace. And the second would be for 30 million dollars a month to be given to me, tax-free in a Swiss bank account.

You know, if I had three wishes I could make this holiday season, the first, of course, would be for all the children of the world to get together and sing, the second would be for the 30 million dollars every month to me, and the third would be for encompassing power over every living being in the entire universe.

And if I had four wishes that I could make this holiday season, the first would be the crap about the kids definitely, the second would be for the 30 million, the third would be for all the power, and the fourth would be to set aside one month each year to have an extended 31-day orgasm, to be brought out slowly by Rosanna Arquette and that model Paulina-somebody, I can't think of her name. Of course my lovely wife can come too and she's behind me one hundred percent here, I guarantee it. Wait a minute, maybe the sex thing should be the first wish, so if I made that the first wish, because it could all go boom tomorrow, then what do you got, y'know? No, no, the kids, the kids singing would be great, that would be nice.

But wait a minute, who am I kidding? They're not going to be able to get all those kids together. I mean, the logistics of the thing is impossible, more trouble than it's worth! So -- we reorganize!

Here we go.

First, the sex thing. We go with that. Second, the money. No, we got with the power second, then the money. And then the kids. Oh wait, oh jeez, I forgot about revenge against my enemies! Okay, I need revenge against all my enemies, they should die like pigs in hell! That would be my fourth wish. And, of course, my fifth wish would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing together in the spirit of harmony and peace."

54. Realistically, reasonably...
Shoot, this is unreasonably tough. I have low needs (probably the result of years of just scraping by) so what I have is "adequate".

I mean, there's a ton of stuff I'd be content to get... HDTV, for example, or a new flatscreen monitor (I'm using a 20" CRT that weighs over 40 lbs and was made in 1995) or a stereo amp or a printer or a PS3 or giftcard to Barnes & Nobles or a World War Two Garand rifle or camping gear (recreational, not hiking-into-the-wilderness kind) or artwork for my walls.

But none of this is a driving, burning need.

<sigh> I need someone special to do stuff with. Left by myself I'm entirely too content to work, eat, sleep, and hang out on DU.

So, I guess I would like someone to love under the Christmas tree this year.

82. barring what I really want....
which I will not get, I would like 6 months or a year away without losing my pay. To have an extended period of time somewhere like Prague where I wouldn't have to deal with all of the pain associated with the people I know back in the US and none of the drama I'm dealing with here. I think I'll go to Prague for a week next month, but that's not long enough.... I really need some fucking time to get my head straight without worrying about my personal relationships or my PhD.

89. That Retro's mom's tumor is benign
and she'll be home and better by New Year's.

But if it had to be for me? A weekend with Hugh Laurie. God knows I need the laughs and I adore that man.
