Day 6 of the blackout in New Hampshire.
Well, there is growing misery up here. Power has been out for many people for almost a week and it is cold. We are having an ice storm now with heavy snow predicted for Friday and another heavy storm for Sunday. Electric crews are here from all over the country but it is very difficult and dangerous to be working on lines and downed trees in this weather. There has been some price gouging going on in connection with the sale of emergency generators and house break-ins are up. It is amusing to watch the recent NH arrivals who came to the country to avoid the city life. They are pissed. They made no advance preparations for anything like this and have run out of food, water, gas and patience. I have a bit of the survivalist in me so, in addition to an awsome emergency generator which powers everything, I have enough food, cigs and booze to last until May, I think!

Anyone else here going through this? How are you coping? :hi:

1. Not going through it now, but we have been through it
North central Indiana had a horrible ice storm about four years ago, I think. So many trees were knocked down and so many transformers blew that some people didn't get power back for three to four weeks. They ran out of replacement transformers and had to wait for them to be delivered. We were without power for about a week. We considered ourselves lucky. Some people ended up staying in hotels.

Sorry you have to go through this, hope it gets better soon! :pals:

2. My parents live in your neck of the woods...
they just got power pack yesterday. They kept the woodstove going and cooked on a colman stove. I was fortunate not to lose power where I live.
