It came out when I was in high school, and my friends and I saw it six times in two weeks. We cried every time when the roses happened.

"Pretty Picture Movie" = Cheesy, big-budget trash that is inexplicably well photographed.
Must have lots of scenery chewing and/or misty-eyed close ups. Other examples:

"Doctor Zhivago"
"Out of Africa"
"Deep Impact"

You have to look very closely during the crowd scenes, though! My girlfriends and I were in junior high when that movie came out. We signed up as extras in the ice arena. We took a restroom break and "accidentally" walked by the dressing rooms. Robbie Benson brushed up against my friend's sleeve- omg such memories!
