That's the last time I admit to tightness in the chest.

Now I have to have a stress test, echo, myo-something, and the dreaded Holter monitor! UGH.

When will I learn to suffer in silence?*

This is truly no big deal. I was the first infant in California to have open-heart surgery; the symptom and the tests are old hat to me. I just hate the tests. Grr.

* don't lecture; I'm kidding about silence.

edited for a misspelling

1. Oy...always better to be safe than sorry
The Holter monitors the easy part and the rest of the stuff will just ease your mind. I had a 3 hour emergency room visit with some tightness a few years ago...It was the result of a major binge on Altoids. Who knew that peppermints could make you feel like you were dying?

Note to self: avoid Altoids. :)

2. Holter was an interesting character
He was a Montanan, and dabbled in making sculptures by putting a sheet of metal over an explosive and detonating all. Made beaucoup money on his monitor invention.

3. Hmm. Who knew?
I tend to see people I don't know personally in one dimension. It's a character flaw. I'm always surprised when I hear things like this - that the man who invented that monitor was a sculptor of sorts. Thanks for the education. :)

7. I saw a documentary about him on public tv years ago
looked like he was really enjoying himself blowing stuff up. I'd forgotten all about it until I read your comment.

6. Are you kidding? If I left them all for Mrs. V. to take care of alone,
she'd kill me. :crazy:

9. Oh, I've been through all that
not the surgery. But I had a major MI due to a coronary aneurysm (only those who have them are allowed to spell them) and lost 10-15% of my heart. That was almost 15 years ago, but even now I somehow give it away even if I don't say anything. I'll just be sitting there and husband will say "Are you all right?" Hate the monitors and the nuclear stress tests and the friggin' blood tests.
