This is Sophie's choice.

Firstly, if a person gives you this choice they are evil, if they are evil you can't believe they would do as they say anyway.

What they are doing is trying to make you feel, their action of evil is your fault. It is not a way to hurt one of the two you are forced to choose from, it is a way to make a person actually think they caused the hurt.

When facing this. I find a third option. And give them both cake.


Letting someone else frame the options, is a relinquishment of potential paths, the world is not a maze, it is a wide open plain with a few obstacles.

This is actually pretty important.

If you concede to someone the power to make you choose. And they have proven they are bad by giving you such a choice. You become a tool of that very evil.

This paradigm is usually phrased a different way.

It is usually phrased like this. Do evil, or they will do evil to you. Same paradigm, do you give them the power to force you to choose?
