I saw a shocking thing on TV last night.
And no, it wasn't Captain Kirk marrying James Spader either. Although that was pretty distressing too since as much as I like Spader, I could not help thinking that Cpt. Kirk was settling. And what about Sulu who was left waiting in the wings? No-o-o! Kirk just snubs his helmsman for a pretty trophy spouse!

Anyway, what I found shocking was on CSI Miami. Apparently, the case turned on the identification of an ATV cycle thing. So to crack it, they figured out it was a weird wheel configuration. So they describe it, show it and then solve the case. A few minutes later, there was an ad for the goddamn thing. It was a psychological manipulation to make a commercial ad seem like part of the story. CSI, you are dead to me.

2. It's called product placement. Not as shocking as the Capt. Kirk/James Spader wedding!

3. Yeah, I know.
This time, the ad was integral to the story, not incidental and it set up the audience to be receptive of the ad that followed the show.
