Frank Vincent Zappa December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993

I'm listening to Hot Rats right now.

2. He truly was. A sad day indeed.
Since I was a junior in college at the time, I probably spent the night in some form of chemically-enhanced state listening to Joe's Garage and Apostrophe.

4. If he had lived to see that last 8 years
His considerably rich catalog would be even more impressive. He was one of the very best to intersect music and politics, with precise social commentary. And goddamned funnier than hell, too.

To FZ: The present day composer refuses to die!

5. He was a genius.
And he is missed.
Why do great artists like John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, and Frank Zappa die young, but Paul Fucking McCartney is alive and well?

6. Unmatched, unparalled genius.
Trouble Every Day still holds, as does nearly everything he wrote.

He left us an extensive catalog to study.

Probably in 1000 years they will worship at his altar. For now, he has a monstrous fan base.

11. I was just introduced to his music a few weeks ago.
Since then, I've been playing the live "The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life" album pretty much non-stop.

"Johnny will never know what he missed..."

12. A towering genius
He could do everything from scatological humor to incredibly dense academic music with style, panache and humor. FZ was a musical titan.

Wowie Zowie
Your love's a treat
Wowie Zowie
You can't be beat
Wowie Zowie, baby
You're so neat
I don't even care
If you shave your legs

Wowie Zowie, baby
You're so fine
Wowie Zowie, baby
Please be mine
Wowie Zowie
Up and down my spine
I don't even care
If you brush your teeth

Dream of you each mornin'
I dream of you each night
Just the other day I got so shook up
I dreamed of you in the afternoon

I dream of you each mornin'
I dream of you each night
Just the other day I got so shook up
I had a flash in the afternoon

Wowie Zowie, baby
Love me do
Wowie Zowie
and I'll love you too
Wowie Zowie, baby
I'll be true
I don't even care
If your dad's the heat

(Wowie Zowie . . . )

Wowie
Wowie Zowie
Wowie
Wowie Zowie
Wowie
Wowie Zowie
Wowie
Wowie Zowie
Wowie
Wowie Zowie
Wowie
Wowie Zowie
Wowie . . .

19. At the Hard Rock casino in Biloxi, MS there is piece of art that
is a portrait of Zappa made of bras and panties that were thrown on stage at his concerts over the years. As nasty as it is, it is pretty damn cool. Whoever did it was talented as hell and I hope they wore some thick ass gloves. And a mask for that matter.
