So, uhm, anybody here in love with Trader Joe's?
We found one that's, like, an hour away, but the prices are so good that it's worth the trip, and their food is awesome.
There's just nothing like it in my area.

Didn't have them in TX. Is TJ's better than Whole Paycheck?

I have a feeling I will miss Central Market back in TX though.

Get their Xmas wreaths: less than $15, and they are wonderful-- and stay fresh for months.

43. 2 equidistant from my house - both an 8-hour drive.
:-( I'm SOOOO jealous of those who live near TJs. Every time I'm in a city that has one, I stock up. If flying, I bring an extra suitcase to load up with Trader Joe's stuff. Can't bring back any of their perishables though, which is too bad - I hear that some of their frozen things are WAY tasty. (Very sad - supplies are getting low here, since it's been 6 mos since I visited my mom in the Cleveland area. Maybe I can sweettalk her into sending me a TJ's care package as my Christmas present.)
Good stuff at VERY good prices.

21. Oh yeah!
Most of their stuff is excellent. But you have to read the labels. In order to get the good prices, they sometimes stint on the ingredients. The wine buys, however, are good about 95% of the time.

24. nuts, cheeses are good buys
Every week or so I buy the following:

a bag of grated parmesan
a bag of grated quattro fromaggio
greek yogurts -- the honey, the fig, the pomegranate yum
various nuts
crackers
non-fat cottage cheese
45 percent less sodium sliced Columbus salami
goddess salad dressing
cat vitamins
diet cranberry juice

...and more

I do find it hard to put together quick dinner entrees there, being on a very low-carb diet.

26. Last time I was there I went nutso on jarred stuff
Olives, capers, all sorts of jelly, bruchetta topping, etc. Really good stuff and close to half the price of what stuff sells for in my local grocery store. Unfortunately it's about a 40 minute trip to get there so I don't go but maybe 2 times a year. Wish they'd open one on my side of town and a Whole Foods as well.

30. Yes, it's a great little store
My old neighbor and very best friend introduced me to TJ's when we lived in SoCal well over a decade ago. We're fortunate to live within 20 minutes of one now that we're in Indiana. I'm guilty of loving Costco and Cost Plus - World Market, too.

and set up shop a mile away.

They can't sell liquor in this state, and they still do great business on food only. We shop there every week.

32. I LOVE TJ's. Not only do I love the quirky selection of groceries,
but the prices are great and the vibe at the one where I go is awesome. The employees are almost always in a great mood and the folks that shop there are sincerely cool. There are three or four within a mile of my place (here in West L.A.) so I'm never without. Oh yea, they usually have really good music piped through the store too :-).

I won't go in a TJ's store anymore, they all make me super claustrophobic and those stupid diagonal aisles make me want to hurt the innocent.
