Poll question: Have you ever cheated on your spouse/partner/et al?
No names or responses unless you want to make yourself known, in which case being the victim is the better role or if there's a valid reason TO cheat, which I can't think of many?

4. Real, implied, or "virtual" sexual congress with a person you've not made a pact with.
Marriage, "civil union", "verbal agreement", "going steady", et al.

Again, I'm not saying there aren't legitimate reasons - I just can't think of many. And most of those I can fathom are pretty vile too.

6. Never. Never will. If I feel the desire to, I will leave him first.
Even if I decided to leave him, I wouldn't ever humiliate him like that.

32. Exactly!
If you reach the point where you're willing to cheat you can't really love the one you're already with. Might as well leave at that point anyways. And more importantly, it's one of the cruelest things you can do to someone you claim to love.

14. Yeah, that.
Only once, when the honeymoon phase wore off. Never mind the seven-year itch; it's that pesky second or third year that can be dicey. Happened to my best friend too. Anyway, yes--lusted in my heart, but didn't actually do anything. Wouldn't, either.

no excuses, I haven't been happy for a long time (for a whole bunch of reasons) and have already met with a lawyer but it doesn't make it OK that I didn't wait.

16. I've discussed it with my wife...
... I told her since our "sexual relation" was the first and so far last for me, I have wondered what "sexual relations" would be like with someone else. We have an understanding about this. I can cheat on her with her permission, and she will allow me to cheat on her if she never finds out about it. Since I'm an open book with her, she'd find out about it and I'd never cheat on her without her permission, which she won't give. The agreement the other way around is that she can cheat on me if she tells me, and I know she couldn't bring herself to tell me she cheated if she did. So she's not going to cheat on me.

That's about as far as it got. Yes, I think about it, but that's as far as I know I can go.

Mark.

18. No. Even in my dreams.
I can be frolicking around naked in my dreams with all sorts of sexy lusty people, and then all the sudden I'll think, "Hey, wait a minute... you're not my wife!"

What's up with that? I can't jump into my Tardis and take a hot wild ride through space and time with Louise Brooks?

It's like the monogamy is built into me, and it's always been that way. Before I was married I'd have a "just holding hands" relationship with someone and I wouldn't hold hands with anyone else until the relationship was over. Of course I ran into a few who were having crazy sex with multiple partners while I thought they were dating me, but the only thing that ever really bothered me was my eventual realization that I was astonishingly naive and thick-headed and could hurt people by not recognizing they wanted me. It's like, damn, I was a cold fish.

I still suffer a lot of blindness about human relationships. I've got to carry around this elaborate rulebook in my head when everyone else seems to be doing what comes naturally to them.

Flirt a little bit, even if it's awkward and you know it's not going anywhere. That's one of the rules I've collected. If you are single you might be wrong and the flirting could go somewhere... Otherwise it generally pleases people that you find them attractive.

19. Current spouse, no - and never will
But yes in the past.

Valid reason? The then-current girlfriend was just a busty plaything, and I liked the ex-girlfriend better. Also, the ex was better in bed...

20. Proud to say that despite all my cadishness I've never cheated
I DID sleep with a girl 20 hours after fooling around with her sister, but there was no relationship going on in either situation.... a month later I slept with the first sister.

.........They don't speak to me anymore.

25. Nope, never even think about it when I'm in a relationship.
Of course, when I'm in a relationship, the woman usually ends up having to beat me off...of her with a stick. I tend to put women on a pedestal and worship them. Must.Learn.To.Show.Restraint.

26. Thought about it? Or thought seriously about it?
I reject the idea out of hand. I can't believe that there would be many opportunities for me, and though they might be pleasurable, I don't think I could take advantage of them with a straight face.

I am too much in love, and too well loved, to consider straying.
