How do you handle the weight of the world?
Me, I'm fond of crying and booze.

15. Aw, thanks, nini. Sometimes crying is good for the soul though.
Wish I knew DU was here last year, when I read that story of the little boy getting paid $2 a body to bury civilian war dead in shallow graves in iraq. The grief I felt when I read that, I can't explain; it went beyond anything I ever felt before in my life. It was so immediate, like there was no distance between me and that makeshift cemetery that shouldn't have been. I'd never cried for people in another country before.

It was an amazing, heartbreaking kind of an awakening. I sometimes wish I hadn't awoken. But anything is better that having your head buried in the sand. I guess.

18. The world is definitely a difficult place these days..
.. which is why I value this place so much to keep me informed with truth instead of what the US media thinks we should know.

The only way to change things is to be aware they are happening and get off our butts and do something about it. This includes voting this corrupt admin out of office and anything else we can do to help change things.

But, yes crying does help sometimes.. we all need to let our grief out from time to time.

Hang in there and keep coming back here.

8. Go out at night...
when it's quiet, especially if it's a crisp, cold, clear night in the dead of winter, and just watch the stars. Not thinking about whether there's life around one of them, just watching them.

17. Driving or walking
When I had a car I used to go driving late at night, especially on those cool clear evenings. I would drive around for hours, flipping through radio stations and tapes. Once spring comes and the weather here warms up to a bearable level, I'll go walking.

In the meantime, booze works .

sucked all over the world. And even though things suck now, we still have it pretty good.

Oh, and lotsa booze.

25. I make some noise
"I exist!! I have an impact!!" I walk around in the cold. I come here and either wallow in apathy, or pick up some hope. If all else fails I find a way to get into DC and feel the city.
