How much is your Power-Bill every month

2. A NEW FRIDGE MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE

My old model was pre-90s but it was a designer doublewide thing ; but the new one took over 110 bucks a month off the bill.

12. I have central air running all the time and I pay about $90 a month

I know a freeper who pays over $200 per month for the same set up. Her fridge is ancient, the door doesn't close completely, the thermostat is on the highest setting and food still doesn't get very cold in the damn thing. I tried explaining to her that the A/C isn't boosting her power bills, it's the freakin' refrigerator! Even under the best of circumstances, the fridge is generally the biggest consumer of household power. But she won't listen. Once these people make up their minds, you can't convince them of anything.

3. The bill is different from what I'm paying

It comes every year saying, that I have heated more than is possible. So it basically a flat rate. They have replaced the counter twice - still it shows impossible results (that much water can't go through the pipe).

4. It varies vastly...

In the summer the gas bill is around $35-$40 per month, but last winter it topped out around $220. The electric runs about $45 a month in the winter...we'll see how it does this summer with the window AC's on (we had our electric meter die on us, and it was about a month before we noticed...still haven't found out how the electric company is going to deal with that!).

Our heat is included in the condo fee, but our electricity isn't and we have central air (Thank God)...

Old fridge and old chest freezer I'm sure contribute mightily to that. Well, that plus the 3+ computers I usually have on!

But I do use compact fluorescents in nearly everything, so I'm trying!

Maybe if we get a tax refund next year the fridge can go.

It was less than $30 last month, but high this month because it's been so hot and the air conditioner has been running more than usual, even thought it's on 'energy saver'. The winter bill can get up to $60, but it's usually around $45-$50.

Wish you all would give your locations. I am in Western NY State on the shores of Lake Erie. We have nasty winters.

Last year our electric averaged 55 dollars/month. Two fridges, two TVs, two furnances.

Natural gas averaged 116 dollars/month, two new furnances, one for upstairs Apt,

one for down stairs, house is pretty well insulated with new windows.

We expect a twenty five per cent increase this winter.

11. Last month, $370 for electricity. Plus $140 for water.

A negligible $13 for gas. Of course, I live close to the Mexican border, and we have had over 120 days so far this year with temps over 100. Right now, 10:00 a.m., it's over 100, and it's so humid even my cats refuse to go outside.

About $150/month in the summer, and $75/month in the winter. We use setback thermostats to keep down costs, but the upper gulf coast in the summer is pretty tough with high humidity and temperatures....

I'm in SE Texas too (Beaumont area), and our electric bill runs around $120 in the summer and about $60 during the other 2 months of the year.

15. Tokyo area-- recent electric bill was 4200 yen,

gas bill was 1800 yen, for a total of 6000 yen or nearly exactly $50.

Every appliance and light in the house is an energy saver. And there are no bulky 50-gallon water heaters here-- water is heated by a rather small heater at the precise time it is needed.

It was $17.69. It goes up to about $23 in the winter. Heat and cable are included in the rent, and although this place is too small for me now, it's one reason why I really hate to think about moving...That, and I just have too much stuff...
