Damn. I almost left my dog in the car overnight.
Before you accuse me of being a terrible person, here's what happened:

I was in my garage on a ladder trying to figure out why my garage door opener has been malfunctioning. I grabbed the remote out of my car, and left the car door open. So.... while I was up in the rafters trying to find a way to fix the opener, my wife let Bella out. Seeing the garage and my car door open, the dog figured that it was Time For A Ride (WOOHOO! ARF! ARF!), and jumped into the car thinking that we were going for a ride.

I ascertained that I needed to replace the safety sensors, so I closed everything up and went back inside to check the 'tubes for prices, not realizing that Bella was in the back seat waiting for her ride.

20 minutes later: I went back to the garage to verify the model number, only to see my dog in the back seat still waiting patiently for her ride. A few treats later, and we're best friends again. I'll take her for a ride tomorrow.

BTW - Does anyone know how to disable the safety sensors on a Chamberlain garage door opener?

1. You aren't a bad person. Shit happens.... and
No, I have no idea on how to disable the safety sensors on a Chamberlain garage door opener.

Good luck with it! :hi:

2. I've never had to deal with garage door openers...
...so I'm gonna guess, "hit it with a hammer."

Would that work?

3. I don't know about garage door openers, but
my dog did that once.

I was bringing in groceries. She climbed into the car while the door was open, and I did not see her when I went back to close the door. After a while, we missed her. My daughter and I ran all over the yard and called her. I decided to get in the car and go looking for her. I found her, and she got a ride.

It was a warm day, too. This could have become dangerous for her.

6. I don't think you can. One of ours went bad,
after 17 years, so no biggie, and we just replaced it.

I *think* that it's code now, as well, so when you go to sell, you'll have to reinstall them.

8. I locked my cat in the car overnight - and thought he had run away
When he didn't come in for dinner. To the day that car went to the crusher, there were cat claw marks in the visor and seats. The good thing was that the weather was decent - not hot or cold - and he learned not to climb into the car. Here in Florida, if he got locked in the car on a hot day he'd be toasted. The other good thing is that this cat will absolutely not go inside, even in a litter box so he left no mess.
