Poll question: Up or down vote: Marshmallows on sweet potatoes
So we're having this discussion* about inappropriate Thanksgiving dishes, and people turn out in force to say that they don't like marshmallows on sweet potatoes. Did this become CW without me knowing it? What do you think, Lounge? I've got yams to make here!

1. I like having the option.
It's nice to have just plain sweet potatoes AND mashed ones with marshmallow on top.

I don't like candied yams though. Just cooked or mashed.

2. Horrible, nasty, vile.

My very most unfavorite Thanksgiving dish. A disgusting combination of mushy texture and total lack of flavor beyond an overwhelming, cloying sweetness.

:puke:

9. Perfect reply.

Personally, I'd save them for the Stove-Top stuffing.

6. They're already *sweet* potatoes
I just bake the darn things - I've never like additional sweet stuff on them. But you know what? It all depends on what YOU like. :hi:

13. Yuck, yuck, yuck, no.
Pecan praline crumble on top of creamed whipped sweet potatoes, yes. ANYTHING to do with marshmallows in a non-hot cocoa setting, nooooo.

14. Marshmallows will make your guests wonder where ...
... the chocolate bars and graham crackers(or at least the cocoa) are, thus leading to massive disappointment.

Marshmallows skeeve me out...they're made for the most part from bone-char sugar (whiter sugar makes whiter marshmallows) and gelatin. Call me strange but I don't like it when my fun-foods are non-obviously adulterated with animal byproducts. It'd be like if you awoke tomorrow morning to your usual cup of orange juice or coffee only to learn that someone had been spiking it with lard for some ongoing time.

Also, and this might be nit-picky...yams =/ sweet potatoes. They're similar but calling them interchangeable would be a lot like saying bananas and plantains were the same thing.

16. Have any of you tried Chipotle Sweet Potatoes?
The combination of a little spicy/smoky chipotle with the sweetness of the sweet potatoes is teh awesome!

The recipe I used is something like this one (I think), but there are other variations out there: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Whipped-Chipotle-Sweet-Potatoes-108756

Nummy!!
