1. I agree
the season's over, let it go. There's this one house a few blocks from mine that keeps their lights up year round.

2. Here where I live they have asked people to keep their lights up. I
guess it's to cheer us through the rest of winter and into Spring. It's depressing to me to see them there still.

3. Maybe Santa hasn't shown up yet
Didya ever think of that? Maybe someone couldn't afford any presents because the evils of a capilist consumption based society forces them to buy and illuminate christmas lights, and the vicious cycle of poverty-driven xmas lighting is taking its toll on some young mother and father, both driven out of their manufacturing jobs by Bush policy.

This place used to be a progressive, caring, thoughtful site, full of strong minds and great, insigtful debates. Now all we're left with is an ass-worshipping StairMaster™ salesman and a fictitious homicidal computer wanna-be.

Burn, tender Christmas lights, long into the eve, past the fallen leaves of October, and into the next season. Oh innocent children of matcom's neighbors, love your parents because the lights shine with their love of you - and Santa will come next year, I promise.

11. I've got to love it when the neighborhood can't decided
which holiday to celebrate. There are a few house on my way to work with Xmas lights still lit. For a while one of them was surrounded by houses with Valentine's Day decorations. Up until a couple of weeks ago there was a home on my street with Valentine's day lights, next to a home with Christmas lights, next to a home with congratulations Patriot's lights and decorations.

21. In the "rich"area just west of here you should see all the lights still up
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 08:28 AM by underpants
They can call them whatever they want to but Christmas lights are Christmas lights even if they are all white. My wife and I drove through Richmond's Westend last weekend going to play pool and we counted at least 10 homes that had either not taken down the white lights in the trees or had decided to leave them there, it must be "the thing to do" I dunno but it still looks tacky.

My family is from West by gawd Virginia and my wife grew up near Roanoke so we know tacky overthetop trashy when we see it, the homes we saw last week were $500K homes.

15. Uh, not to be a killjoy
Maybe somebody over there is depressed or having some kind of other problem.

You could always stop by with something nice to eat and suggest some help in taking them down.

IMHO, YMMV,
Julie
yes, we're still trying to put away the unplugged Christmas lights...

25. You think that's bad...our Christmas tree is still in our garage
Now we're ashamed to drag it out there, and afraid they won't pick it up...so who knows what will happen to it. I have to say it's held up pretty well, considering it's been lying on its side on a concrete floor for 2 months.

Ah well,

The Plaid Adder

27. My, they are behind
They should have their St. Patrick's lights up like our neighbors do. Plus, as an added bonus, our neighbors have already put out their pastel-egg tree. Soon, they'll put up the Easter-bunny nativity set and hang sacrificial Easter bunnies by the neck. Always decorating for the latest holiday, they are.
