I went shopping today, and it's all Tim Gunn's fault.
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 05:54 PM by Shakespeare
Idle couch-potato-ing landed me on "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" for a couple of hours yesterday, so today I felt it vitally important that I augment my 10 Essentials (which I have about three times over--thanks, Tim. :eyes: ).

I now have a new blazer, some new super-dark "dress" jeans, and a couple assorted dressy blouses.

And a couple more pair of dress slacks from Express (their Editor Pant, also known in my house as the Amazing Ass Pants, because they do make your ass look really fantastic).

He needs to adopt me soon, so he can help support my wardrobe habit. :scared:

1. I still need my 10 essentials!
I dress like a 17 year old.

Jeans/Cords, Hoodies, T-shirts. Bandanas and baseball caps.

Although, I did manage to wear a grey sleeveless v-neck sweater with a long-sleeved black shirt (both Gap) and brown Cords to an event the other night. And, I did my hair and wore makeup! :o

OT, but yes! I do still want that stuff. And whatever else you mentioned in your PM. :)

When I get my Spring excess financial aid check, I'm so going shopping.

:loveya:

2. It really is a great set of wardrobe basics.
It helps that I'm a total budget hound, too (Target has some GREAT pieces they just marked down 30-50%, btw).

You're a full-time student, so you're totally exempt from Gunn's Essentials for now (lord knows I wore the same stuff you do when I was in grad school). :7

Stuff mentioned in PM will be on its way to you manana.

:hi: :loveya:

4. I often assess my wardrobe by asking myself if Timm Gunn would hold up any particular piece and say:
"This concerns me..."

7. I've watched him a lot lately, too.
I need to clean out my closet, and I know a lot in there would concern him. I keep hearing him in my head every time I go into my closet.

10. Every time I'm in my closet, or looking at clothes at stores,
he's there. I don't buy so much now, and I'm weeding out. It concerns me, too!

5. I have black slacks, camis and cardigans.
This is my style right now. I also have a couple of long skirts. I found the cutest Argyle sweater at Target yesterday. The idiots who wrote up the tag put PAISLEY on it. WTF?
Anyway, I'm really simple and low key. I understand the habit. I'm having a ton of trouble right now, though because the new stuff is what I like.

12. I'm cursed. I live 3 blocks from their store at Hollywood & Highland.
And they tempt me by mailing me little discount cards for $30 off purchases of $75 or more. I think they have me right where they want me. :scared:

9. i just made it home from the mall with my daughter and i think he must have been with me
my daughter was down "I hate my body" and i said "There is nothing wrong with your shape, you just need to find the correct fit, embrace your body type" and sure enough we got her a really adorable and her very first dress. I also got yet another pair of nike cotez sneakers, black nylon with a white swoosh, those were for me but she scored a nice pair of boots to go with her dress and some purple micro fiber tights.

11. Oh, that reminds me--I need new boots!!

I think all girls go through that phase, unfortunately. I'm sure a lot of it is societal pressures, but part of it's just hormonal contrariness. That's great (for your sanity, especially) that she found a dress she likes. :hi:
