Dudes in unhappy marriages... listen up...
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 04:20 PM by Writer
Look - if you don't like the situation you're in, get some couples' therapy or leave. Don't go fuck around behind your wife's back then, when she finds out just how little a man you are, attack her and strangle her for harming your insecure ego. Okay? Thanks.

7. Not only a cruel insecure fuck, but a stupid insecure fuck....

....

Okay, I'm weird.

I volunteer for the Doe Network, I read a lot about crime and criminals. And all too often I am amazed at the sheer stupidity of people who are trying to get away with murder.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that he was caught, and I hope he enjoys the extramarital sex that occurs in jail.

But I don't get this thought process at all. Dump a body, make the car look like it had trouble... then go BACK???? He had plenty of time to plan exactly how he was going to get rid of the body, and forgot the purse?

------

Back on the serious....

I'll be lighting a candle for her family, and I'm glad that her killer will face justice.

All too often they don't. Especially if a body is found with no identification and they don't find out the person's name right away -- since most killers know their victims, finding the identity of the victim is crucial to bringing their murderer to justice.

I don't think DU mods will mind if I use this as an opportunity to ask everyone to take a moment and check out the Doe Network -- www.doenetwork.org -- and see if you recognize anyone. Some of the case files are very hard to read, like the woman known as "Beth Doe" or "Carbon County Jane Doe" -- it was very similar to the Laci Peterson case, the victim was nine months pregnant. Whoever killed her dismembered her body and put her into three suitcases, then threw the suitcases over a bridge in Pennsylvania. The reason they were found was that he had poor aim and they didn't actually land in the river.

She's been dead now for nearly 32 years and her family has no idea what happened to her, and her killer is free to kill again.

11. More than welcome, and I hope you find answers soon....
I found the site when I was trying to find information about my paternal grandfather -- he hasn't been seen in 30 years and my dad believes that he's wearing concrete boots somewhere. We don't have a picture of him or any of his effects, however, and even if they found him we would have to try to find his maternal family to get mtDNA most likely, as nuclear DNA is pretty difficult to extract. That's why he's not up on the website.

Some think I'm pretty strange to volunteer in this kind of thing instead of something more cheerful. I've been told the whole premise of the site was too morbid, actually -- that we are only looking at the worst outcome for a person who is missing. Many families of people who are missing don't want to look at the reconstructions, because they don't want to believe their loved one might be dead... but unless people see the faces and hear the stories, these people will never get their rightful names back.

The forensic artists who volunteer for the site call their organization EDAN -- Everyone Deserves A Name.

No one ever cheers when a person is identified, but at least when they get their name back their family can finally grieve and bury them, and the killer is one step closer to justice.

13. My grandmother's brother was missing for 30 years, it was a huge family mystery.
Upon her death, her eldest son had to locate all heirs, so armed with a court order, he found out the missing uncle had been in a state mental hospital.
Turns out that at some point, the missing uncle had been an alcoholic, was sent to hospital acting crazy because he had what was then called dt's. This was in the 40's. At that time, once you went in and were deemed crazy, you never ever got out, especially if no family was available. Eventually, you were medicated into craziness anyhow.
So the missing uncle died in the state hospital, around 10 years later, which was 60 miles from where the family lived. By the time the mystery was solved, none of his sisters and his one brother were alive.

14. Marriage is complicated. I wish Teh Gays would band together and outlaw straight
marriage, so I didn't have to keep up with all these rules... :silly:
