but since the Cincinnati Reds were mathematically eliminated back Memorial Day weekend this will have to do

19. It was fucking weird watching her watching a baseball game
She was yelling louder than I did watching the Giants win the Super Bowl last year.

My favorite line of the night from Lostinva:"Strike the motherfucker out dammit! I've been waiting 43 years for them to win a Series, and I want it to happen before I die!"

10. In the words of the immortal Marv Albert, YYYESSSSSSSSS!!!!!
Never mind my own well-documented bias against expansion teams from the fast-buck Sunbelt. Imagine what a fiasco an AL comeback would have been for the sport as a whole, thinking back to "Monday Night Water Polo". Shades of the infamous All-Star tie -- which, come to think of it, may have caused that directly, if this would have been the NL's year for home field.

Factoid: Maui native Shane Victorino becomes the first Hawai'i player to win a Series since Lenn Sakata with the '83 O's. Benny Agbayani got there with the 2000 Mets, but, well, you know. Sign I wish I'd made: Victorino holding chopsticks over a ray, reading "Rays Make Great Sushi". :P

40. Selig is probably half the reason I was sitting at home watching the game
and not up in Philly at some bar. I use to love baseball (btw the other reason - Phillies are NOT my favorite team, I like them but I'm a Cincinnati Reds fan) but Selig is a former team owner (Milwaukee Brewers) whose only concern is the owners and NOT the fans. I'm happy the Phillies won but if it was any of the other 3 major sports teams I'd be going nuts!

My teams didn't make it, but I'm glad the teams I hate got wiped out.

- Dodgers
- Angels
- Devil Rays

I like how a lot of people thought the Devil Rays were gonna steamroll over the Phillies.

52. This Series needed LESS cowbell
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=8196780&mesg_id=8196780

This World Series is unsalvageable. It is a disaster borne of people who think cowbells and (bad -Ed.) haircuts make them fans, owners who are so greedy that they accept late-October baseball and late-evening start times, and a commissioner who unilaterally changes a rule while he’s carrying the book in his left hand....

:P

42. Oh man - the city looks like a war zone.
From everything I'm reading and seeing, it's pretty bad.

I thought it was bad when I saw someone shooting off fireworks IN THE CROWD, but it only got worse from there. Traffic light poles are down, storefronts were destroyed because looters threw newspaper stands through the windows, trees are down from people climbing them and other people trying to shake them out of the trees, the massive potted plants were ripped out of the ground, fires, overturned cars, and apparently a few people actually got lit on fire.

Lots of arrests and several people hospitalized for jumping off roofs, falling out of trees and being lit on fire.

How do people turn a celebration into fighting, looting and destroying everything in sight? I'll never understand that.
