Oh my God...It's happened!

I cannot entirely believe it yet...

My poems are going to be published!

I just got the letter today...The Bellowing Arc is going to print them! How can it be?

They are good enough to publish!

This is a first!

Come, celebrate with me!



Moon drop

The moon is coming down from full

She‘s hanging low in the night sky

A turgid heavy drop


I swear

If I reached up

And squeezed her

She’d flood me

With her bright liquid light


She’s becoming

The tiny crescent that I love

With sharp points

You could hang your heart on


But right now

She’s an oblong pearl

Dangling from Orion’s throat


I want to reach up and take her

And keep her

And wear her

Forever


Requiem for my body


I will shed this old body like garbage

Like old clothes that need to be

Tossed

My lumpy, wrinkled, crazed form

With all its hungers, longings and dreams

Shall be shed like so many skins


My stumbling feet that so often falter

My tired eyes that no longer see

My lips that are weary of kissing

My hands that no longer work

At life’s tasks

My shoulders that ache and hurt me

My legs that run no longer

All, all will be gone



Only my soul, radiant, pristine and pure,

Shall float free

Unencumbered at last

By this old body


It shall rise in clear isolation

And float

far away

from what used to be

Poetry goes over my head, unless it's set to music and becomes like lyrics, then I get it. The only poems I ever got all started with "There once was a man from Nantucket". :shrug:

It's great that someone gets it though, and it's always nice to get a little recognition for something you've created from nothing. And whether I get it or not, that creative process is a wonderful thing that applies to any art form, and poetry is certainly one such art form.

68. I think my problem is...

..that when I read poetry I over analyze every line, and because of that it never develops a flow, which is why I think lyrics do work for me. The music binds it together, and doesn't really give me the time to think of twenty different meanings like I do when I just read it. I need to learn to just read it through the first time and come back to it later to try find the deeper meanings upon further readings.
