4. I'm not sure why, but I am the same way.
Only recently have I discovered the virtue of happy, sappy movies. I think we watch them when young because we might relate to them, or we are interested in human pain and tragedy, or because we are attracted to sadness. You should take your sister's advice though, and put on a happy (even a stupid!) movie now and again. I only started doing that last year... when I'm sad I don't automatically watch a war film, I watch something with Will Ferrell (ugh! I know) in it - "Blades of Glory" comes to mind - and I laugh. Quietly so nobody knows what an anti-intellectual I've become. It's cheering and if you are prone to depression, you ought not always choose the dark side when you have the option to make the choice.

Life sucks badly enough sometimes. Humor is really such a gift; I didn't really understand that for a long time.

12. Now you got me thinking
I saw this movie and I can't think of the name of it, but really sad and disturbing...i may have some details wrong but it's some sort of a love triangle with two guys and a girl, one guy shoots and kills the other and the movie features the grieving father of the murdered guy and how he deals with the loss...the murderer gets off somehow, and the father of the victim ends up kidnapping the guy on the premise of taking him to the airport to make him leave town forever, but instead drives him to a remote cabin where he shoots the guy in the back and then kills him, and buries him with the help of a friend. Really brutal but compelling movie, anyone have any ideas???
