George Orwell + Shepard Fairey = All kinds of awesome
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 06:08 PM by primate1
Penguin books recently reissued 1984 and Animal Farm with covers designed by Shepard Fairey, one of my favourite atrists.

The girl at the book store and I then talked about how rad Orwell was and how he shits all over the likes of Ayn Rand. Good times.

1. Very, very cool art!

It is encouraging to see such a talented and wise young artist getting this kind of exposure.

3. Any "funny outtakes" or "bonus features" ?
Foreword by anyone interesting or other goodies?

I can't judge this book by its cover!

4. It's Orwell, it doesn't need any foreword or goodies.
They're killer stories with some killer cover art, and that works for me.

5. True...
Just wondering if there was something that would justify me buying another copy besides the spiffy cover art.

Sort of like how Elvis Costello seems to re-master and re-release his entire catalog every 2 years... how many times will it take him to get it right? The first vinyl sounded pretty good to me. ;)

7. It's cheap, if that's justification. $11 a copy here.

8. Aren't they awesome?
I heard about it months ago, but I saw them at the book store when I was there and had to buy them.

15. That is actually the pubbed-in-1984 commemorative edition
Waltr Cronkite wrote the Foreword, and Erich Fromm the Afterword.
