NYC DU'ers!
I have a question. I'm going to be in NYC between November 13-17. Generally speaking, what is the weather usually like? Now, bear in mind that I was born in Central America and grew up in Los Angeles so anything under 60 degrees is unbearably cold to me :)

1. Hate to say it, but it's pretty much gonna be below 60 degrees.
It shouldn't be below freezing yet, though; at least, not during the day.

2. That's okay
I can probably handle it. I'm assuming there's no snow until later, right? Not fond of snow, haha.

3. One never knows, but I don't remember there ever being any significant snow
before Thanksgiving, except in 2002.

4. I'd heard NYC can become minus ten or fifteen celsius.
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 04:03 PM by billyskank
That's a whole lot colder than 60F. Wrap up warm, and don't stay outside when it gets that cold!

I figured that would happen in January or February.

10. That's not too bad
I can probably handle that. I just don't want to look like a tool who is overdressed, haha

11. Chilly
Probably 50s in the day, 30s-40s at night.

Pack a jacket and a couple of sweaters so you can layer your clothes. A scarf would be nice but not an entirely necessary accessory. Nice leather gloves, unlined or lined with silk or some other light-weight fabric, would also be a nice accessory for someone not used to weather in the 40s.

I hope you have a great time!

14. It'll be chilly.
And most likely windy. 50s-60s, I am guessing during the day. Colder at night. Enjoy it though. NYC is the best city on earth! :) :hi:

16. I'm used to disagreeable winds
Although the wind chill might be uncomfortable. I'm really excited about going! The last time I was there, it was only for a day which is certainly not enough!

17. Unbearably cold, but your definition.
I lived in New England until I was 24. Expect cool, brisk weather in the day, temperatures around freezing at night. Be prepared for foul weather including snow or rain freezing on contact with the ground.

18. Autumn in NYC can be unpredictable.
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 04:29 PM by Genevieve
The temperature can get as cold as the low 30's at night and as warm as the high 60's during the day,
but on the average figure low to mid 50's in the daytime, low 40's in the evening.
