Explain your profile.
Elaborate on what you have written in your profile. For example, in mine, I have the comment, "I am not about to do a free-form jazz exploration in front of a festival crowd!" This is a reference to a movie about a band of druids that worships dwarves under a stage in Cleveland.

If you're Forkboy, you could explain your hobby: Strange music. Which I really think Forkboy should do.

Take a moment to look at your profile and see what needs expandifying. Come and elaborate, won't you?

4. Bring it back!
I've recently been on a profile-reading kick. Of course, I didn't even bother trying to read yours, since I figured I already knew everything about you.

:D

You should put it back up though. But no Redskins avatars please.

3. Mine is pretty straightforward. My hobby is collecting autographed first editions.
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 03:02 PM by Aristus
I have a first edition of "Lost Moon" (Apollo 13) autographed by Jim Lovell. I have seven signed first editions by my favorite author, Harlan Ellison. And a first edition of my favorite novel (and one of the best war novels ever) "The Seed And The Sower", by Sir Laurence Van Der Post.

edit: spelling.

6. I'd have thought mine is almost self-explanatory.
The only bit that requires any explanation is that Jimmy Smith was a jazz organist, a phenomenal player of the Hammond who put his contemparies into a tailspin in much the same way that Charlie Parker did to other sax players.

If I did that, it wouldn't be very random, would it? And it would be pretty normal. Instead, here's a picture of something you don't see every day.

On edit: I will answer one, and only one question about myself. Proceed.

13. Since I suffer from a dearth of anything approaching imagination...
mine means that I like to read, do yoga, drink beer and listen to Irish Music, but the interesting thing is I prefer to do all of those activities simultaneously.

My quote is from James Connely and despite what elshiva says, it has nothing to do with my vertically challenged condition. ;)

19. Three things come to mind...
1. What do you wear when you do yoga?
2. Are you wearing anything when you do yoga?
3. Does this yoga involve the ancient art of "nekkid yoga?"

So far, turtlensuzy is the only nekkid yoga master on DU. I thought it would be cool if it there was another. You guys could get together and compare notes, maybe do some routines together maybe take some pics and post them...

Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 12:43 PM by jobycom
I have no idea what my profile says, so let me post this, click on my profile, then I'll edit in the answer.

On edit: Oh that's right, I don't really have a profile.

On 2nd edit: Okay, I made up a profile. Not much to explain. My avatar is Horton the Elephant, because my favorite quote from a kid's book has always been "I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent." Only not Republican elephants--they should learn a thing or three from Horton.

Hobbies: Bikes--I like bikes, but I don't ride enough. Beaches--I like beaches. Writing--I love to write, which is why my posts are so goldarn long.

Comments: Too much hatred around here lately. People hate Palin, hate McCain, hate southerners, hate rednecks, hate shaved heads, hate anything and everything they disagree with, call them bad names, make up disgusting names for opposing candidates, and basically act like Republicans. Democrats should be nicer than Republicans. There really should be a difference between the two parties other than just the issues. Our issues are different from their issues because we respect all people, and they only respect people like them. I'm seeing too many Democrats who are falling into that trap, respecting only people like themselves. That's exactly the sin of the Republicans, with different names. Bring Hell and holy fury against hatred and bigotry and show no quarter in the debate, but the hatred turns us into them, and must be avoided in order to maintain what we are about in the first place. We don't win by becoming them.

Sig line: Someone once started a thread to get the red cheek smiley eliminated because no one used it, so I had pity on the emoticon and vowed to use it in every post.

Gender: Undeclared--People judge others too much on gender. It's the first thing you ask about a baby, it's the first thing you notice when you meet someone knew. The glory of the Internet is that gender isn't obvious unless you make it so, so I choose not to make it so. Same with race, age, orientation, and every other category our society deems important and sortable. But the others aren't asked about in the profile. All are undeclared.

Is that enough? :)

Oddly, I've never wondered about you. Okay, well, every sane person has wondered about you, but I mean in terms of gender.

I'm not trying to fool anyway or keep it secret. Most people know. I just don't like gender being a first consideration.

17. Forkboy's Strange Music
hobby. Imagine cookie monster gargling with glass. Lots of screaming, tons of great guitar riffs, and an occasional thought of "what are they using to make that sound?"

Now toss in the music he and his friends make together...you really get strange, but fun to listen to music.

Here, go to my Myspace page and listen to the song "Let's Roll" on my playlist. Listen to anything on my page, for that matter (the song by Genghis Tron is especially nifty). You'll see. It's all strange music. Not much to explain. :)
