I dreamed last week I was in the Twin Cities. I asked somebody which
city we were in and was told, St. Paul.

I thought, oh, God, and I'll have to get used to driving in the snow...starting the car in sub-zero weather. (How do you do that, by the way?) Why did I move here?

(That area has interested me for a while because it's so blue. But I don't plan to be moving anywhere in RL, mainly because the job market is so bad and being older doesn't help.)

you dreamt you were in St. Paul, and while in this dreamy St. Paul you did not think to alert the DUers that LIVE in St. Paul so we can show you how great it is here?

I am crushed...

:P

The BEST Chicken Salad Sandwich in the WORLD can be bought 5 blocks from my house...

and when you're done eating it, you go downstairs to Garrison Keillors bookstore and buy a book and revel in the witty remarks he has written on the walls...

2. Live and work downtown
Then you can use the skyways and never have to venture outdoors in winter. It's like a dream come true.

8. Ah, but you never lived here in the Olden Days
like the winter of 1971-72 (or was it '70-71?) when the temps didn't go above zero for nearly a month. When we finally hit a high of 5° above, everyone was going around with their coats open, rejoicing at how warm it was.

The worst was the day I woke up to hear the radio announcer saying, "The high today will be 27 below zero."

You'd better believe that cars didn't start that day unless the owner had a heated garage or a block heater plugged in.

I was gone from 1984 to 2003, and by 2003, global warming had started to take effect. I can't recall any daytime highs below zero since then.

13. global warming my ass... way back in the day when I was in
college at UM, Morris (way out in the prairie) this was about 92 or 93, it was 40 below, with an an 80 below windchill, it was one of the few times the whole state was shut down (which really pissed off I Falls because they try never to use their snow days), all schools were canceled etc

So because it was so damn cold and because I am a true Minnesnowtan, I went for a walk to the shopping center. Goddamn it was cold...my eyelashes kept freezing shut (from my breath going through my scarf) and I had to melt them open with my hands.

Ahhhh good times good times
