Does anyone remember the Trick or Treating scene in ET?
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 06:31 PM by Roon
That is how my neighborhood was when I was growing up. Now I am lucky if I get ten trick or treaters halloween night.

1. Yeah, we don't get many either. We had great times as a kid on Halloween.

3. Yeah, it was a lot of fun
I remember going home and dumping my load of candy and heading back out to do some more trick or treating.

7. Yeah, me too. We just walked miles some years. It was one of my favorite nights of the year.

4. Our neighborhood is like that
It is INSANE. We went through 10 bags of candy last year. Nobody bothers to go inside--you aren't able to walk away from the door--it's just a steady stream of kids from about 6:00 till 8:30 or 9:00. I love it. :D

5. What part of Rochester are you in?
I'm down to the south, in one of the little towns there. I'm wondering what it's gonna be like. I just missed Halloween when I moved up here last year, got here on Nov 1st. :)

9. Hey DT--howzit going?
I'm actually in Caledonia--in the village. High concentration of houses in a small area, wide streets...ideal location. Kids get bused in! (Well, minivanned in.) Did you say you're in Victor?

13. Oh, I LOVE Honeoye Falls!
We tried to buy a house there--had one but lost it when our contingent sale fell through on our old house. I like the school district better...and the pizza place in the strip mall just outside the village. :9

14. The pizza place downtown ain't half bad either. :)
The chinese food place on the other hand... meh.

I grew up in the little apartment complex at the end of East st. Fell into the pool once when I was 4ish. Had to be pulled out by the lifeguard. I went back after I moved up here... and that pool is TINY now. :)

15. Good times, good times...
:P

Hey, whatever happened to that restaurant on the main floor of the art gallery (can't remember the name)? Alive? Dead? BK (before kid) we used to go there all the time (when we could afford it...)

16. I don't remember.
I've passed by it a few times when I've gone for walks/jogs and whatnot, but never been inside.

17. Mm. No worries.
No money, no time, no kid's menu--no longer on our agenda. :(

Welp, that's it for me. Say hi to HF for me. G'night from the southwest! :hi:

10. It really is nice
It's one of the things I love about my village. And we're pretty famous for it, which is cool. Makes you really want to take part. Of course, there's no such thing as NOT taking part. The first year we were here, we were warned about how crazy it was, but we didn't really take it seriously. We had NOWHERE NEAR as much candy as we needed. Ran out of candy. Closed the door. Kids kept coming. Turned out the lights. Kids kept coming. Put a sign on the door--"Out of candy--sorry!" Kids who couldn't read kept coming. It was like Night of the Living Trick-or-Treaters! :scared: Never gonna make that mistake again!

8. Same here. The real small kids start at 3:30. The teenagers are still out at 10.

19. Hee hee
I got to thinking about it because my Grandparents picked up a bag of candy for me at Costco and I just know I am going to end up eating most of it eventually.
