Ever chosen your all-time favorite song to do karaoke ...

... only to find out that once up on stage:

a) When you sing to the song in the car, you usually only hear THE SONG (not yourself)
b) The song kicks ass because of the instrumentals, which is not good for karaoke (let's just have everyone look at me for three mins during the drum solo)
c) The song is sung in a completely different key to your voice, and so because of a) above it sounds like you are strangling a cat on stage

Thus ended the incredible karaoke career of GregW who still thinks "Radar Love" is one of the best rock songs of all time, and who still always sings along in the car.

Me and two friends in college did "Seasons of Love" from RENT at a lesbian bar in Memphis. It went well. :)

Which is why I got up in the first place. In my case, it was numerous pints of hefeweizen beforehand. The duet with my GF singing "Summer Nights" went MUCH better.

7. Tie a Yellow Ribbon

I sang it once at a show in McCormack Place in Chicago.
When I started there were about 50 people standing around, soon the crowd grew and there were about 200.
Nervous, I started working the crowd... "Come on everybody, you know the words"
My wife was so embarrassed she told me if I sang another song she'd beat me to death.
