This morning my wife and I got our phone bill. We open it up to find charges that should have never been on it!
She called up Verizon and find out who EBSI and ILD are and Why are their charges on our bill for these companies. Verizon said that the companies told them that we had signed up for services from these companies and the only thing Verizon can do is place a block on the phone number so nothing can be added (I'm assuming without our permission.) Verizon than instructed us to contact the companies ourselves explained we NEVER signed up for the services and ask them to issue credits.
EBSI did issue us a credit but claimed that we signed up for services online.
ILD said we signed up for services online and that they had our computer tracking number and that they would NOT issue a credit.
MY wife is so livid she is throwing up. She is trying to get a hold of someone at the Public Utilities commission to issue a complaint.
In this day and age with hacking and spy ware how do you protect yourself from getting slammed online.
If anyone else can make a suggestion as to what to do please let us know.
1. What is a "computer tracking number"? Sounds bogus.
Sounds like fraud, too. You ought to ask Verizon, in the meantime, what provision of your contract allows them to charge you for unsupported third-party claims.
Better Business Bureau complaint? Are EBSI and ILD even real companies?
3. My wife is not racist but she said the ILD especially sounded like it was a an Indian call center
And she talked to 2 people for ESBI and One sounded like she was from another country. Not sure from where but had an accent the other person gave her the confirmation number that account was closed.
5. Thank you for the info. The guy refused to "credit the account" He said we
signed up for the service. If the Charges are not credited I will be going to cosumers affairs and my wife is place a complaint with the Public Utlities Commission so hopefully we don't see this again.
