I just realized I have gray hairs
dear lord, how did this happen. Ok, I've seen them sneaking in here and there, but..

I'm 37, I've got no children, I've been married 10 years. My mother died suddenly at age 59 in September 2007. Suddenly I notice I have more gray hair on my temples than my usual reddish brown. I feel like I've been waiting a lifetime (8 damned years) to achieve what I had a decade ago.... A president I respected. I am so tired of waiting for positive news, positive views and HOPE.

GO OBAMA!

1. I started going gray in my early 30's.
I'd just pull them out when I found them.

A few years later, I knew I was in trouble when I jokingly suggested to my hair dresser one day that she pull out the gray ones, then trim the rest. That bitch told me she'd have to charge me by the hour! LOL!

Now I am bottle brown. And the gal that cuts my hair is still one of my best buddies ever. Going on about 20 years now.

:)

2. grey hair is funny
My grandmother was totally grey by 40. My mom is 70 and still has more brown than grey. I'm 42 and I've got a bunch that are coming in white and what really sucks is that coloring, even with permanent color, only covers them for about a month before they look grey again. I wouldn't mind white hair if it came in like Bonnie Raitt's or Emmilou Harris.

5. It is funny stuff, that gray.
My mother was all gray by the age of 40 or so, but it's a beautiful silver-gray, the kind people compliment.

My father didn't get any gray hair until he was well into his 60s, and he's still way more dark blonde than gray at age 69. The gray really only shows up in his beard, which he shaved last year.

I am 42 and have no gray hair (I make my hairdresser inspect for grays every time I go in), but I occasionally sprout a white eyebrow (which immediately gets plucked).

My 44- and 46-year-old sisters have dark blonde hair streaked with little chunks of gray, more like the silver of my mother's hair. My younger sister and brother (ages 38 and 37) are still blonde, no gray.

My husband, who is 34, is starting to get gray around his temples - the kind of gray that makes a man look "distinguished." His stepfather, who is 57, still has thick dark hair and no gray.

8. Oh gosh the grey eyebrow hairs freak me out!
I don't know if it's just me or not but my brow greys grow in waaay longer than the rest of my brow hairs. It's freakish.

6. My hair started turning grey at 24.
At first, it was just a streak of hair (mostly white) in the middle of my forehead. My daughter called it my "Wisdom streak". :7

Now, my entire head is grey/white, but I color it red, as I am not ready for an entire head of grey hair.
