I turned 36 today

And to celebrate, I'm going to start therapy on Monday. :D

It's nothing too bad. I'm actually doing quite well right now. I've got a good job. I will be out of debt, except for my mortgage, by the end of the year. I quit smoking 6 months ago. For the first time in my life I'm seriously looking for a mate. Even though I haven't been too successful at that yet, I think the fact that I'm trying shows great progress.

I'm not depressed or disturbed in any way. I just have a few things I'd like to work on like self-confidence and self-esteem issues. That's dogged me my entire life. I'd also like to figure out why I can't eat like a normal person.

It's about realizing my potential. Even though things are going good for me right now, I feel like things could be even better and there's something in me that's holding me back. Those are my thoughts on my 36th birthday. I did a post like this on my 35th birthday and from what I remember things have changed quite a bit since then. My dad is always telling me a lot can change in a year.

that we've been out of touch for so long. I just worked the last 30 days without a day off so I had no time for anything. We did 10 hrs a day M-F and then 8hrs S-S till they decided they needed us to do 10hrs a day 7 days a week! yikes. I tried to tell my manager I can't log that legally but was met with a blank stare :rofl:

I enjoyed reading your post. Yes, a lot can change in a year...I don't even know you, yet your post was inspiring...heartwarming. I've been on and off the couch for years, so I think that making therapy a gift to yourself is priceless. I'm also happy that you quit smoking....that is awesome! I also know how difficult that is....I've not managed to succeed yet....
It's great to read 'I've got some little issues...but life is good'

Keep striving to reach your potential....it's our life's work....happily it's never done. Just my opinion....
There is always something on the horizon....and your mate is a reality...

I appreciate the kind words and, yes, everything is okay. It's been a long time since I could say that. I've been in therapy before, but I didn't know why I was there. I was just told by my doctor that I should be in talk therapy. Now I know why I should be there and I know exactly what I want to work on.

Therapy worked for me...was my lifeline at times.....and also, I was able to pass Intro to Psychology without studying...
Did a CLEP exam...had to take a course for work/certification, too lazy to study....
Being on the couch has its educational benefits as well....

It's a good thing when you know why you're where you're at .....

I agreed to start going to therapy a few months ago after Deb left me. She said it was the only way she would come back. It has helped me a lot. I am not as agitated as I use to be. I haven't wanted to run over anyone is at least a month. Good luck to you. Hopefully you will meet that special someone soon.
