Gregorian chants by Chanticleer anyone?
I just ordered the Gregorian chant cd from the Chanticleer group. Has anyone got this and if so, what do you think about it? Do you just love it?

Our local classical station played some Christmas music by them this morning, I cried all through it.

I think "is" works!

I can't wait for this cd to get here, I'll be like Calvin waiting for his propeller beanie hat. Probably better stock up on the kleenex too.

7. I'm jealous!
I imagine they would never come to my town, but based on what I heard on the radio this morning, I would camp out for tickets.

8. You did not!
That's it, I'm going to the attic for my computer speakers. Tonight. Isn't that group just amazing?

The Ave Maria... that would have pushed me over the edge. Can you imagine them doing Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings? I think I would die.

10. Wow. You and I may have a thing or two in common.
The Adagio is one of my all-time favorites. I mean, it's on my iPod! :hi: :pals: It would be unbelievable as a vocal performance.

11. The Adagio
haunts me like no other. It is the most beautiful and terrible thing I've ever heard. And there is that one part where the music starts to climb - and then, just when you think you can't stand it anymore, it goes further still and then... that is the part where it is no longer music, but the angels singing.

And what comes to my mind is the Ecstasy of St. Theresa, Bernini's version. It is such an agony.

13. They're wonderful with early choral music
and they go for somewhat offbeat stuff. The first CD of theirs that I bought was "Mexican Baroque," and it was exactly that, choral music composed for the Catholic church in Mexico during the Baroque period. Lovely stuff.

I've also seen them live. They put on a varied program, with amusing comments in between.
