2. Really? I don't think that's sexist
I think it SUCKS ASS, but for completely different reasons. I think Anka's songwriter was trying to say that it's amazing when a woman chooses you worthy of being the person she will bear a child with. It's better than the very unpopular Connie Francis song, "Shootin' your load in me."

4. It's sexist because it's "his baby."
It has also been used by the anti-choice people as anthem. :(

13. Well, it's funny cause at first I was ready to say
He was just using a phrase, but in reality I can't think of a an instance where a woman would say, "Thanks for impregnating me with my baby." So, yeah, it's kinda cave-dwelling. That said, the other side makes me wonder if it's a phrase because men can't have babies so finding someone willing to spawn your kid isn't a power thing too...

I don't like people who make broad brush statements like "rap music is sexist." What about female rappers?

Anyway, I don't think people talk too much about 2 Live Crew anymore and that's a good thing.

30. I disagree
I see it as an "empowering" video of sorts. In the beginning the young lady is clearly oppressed by the male assholes and some of the females in both the shoe store and the diner, but after the makeover from the ZZ Top spokesmodels, she comes back and basically tells them all to fuck off when they're fawning all over her. Except for the skinny blonde kid who stuck up for her in the first place.

Kind of a Texas style Cinderella, I guess??

by Lou Christie. Basically, it's about a guy who tells his girlfriend that he'll marry her "someday" - but in the meantime, he's going to chase other girls. But his girlfriend just needs to be patient, one day he'll settle down, after he's done messing around.

59. Actually "Fancy" is a parable about poverty
It's an awful song, I agree, but it deals with what happens to people when they run out of options. I have always seen it as an argument for welfare, and taking care of the poor, so that such things don't have to happen here.

It's also a critique of middle-class morals, and how they become pointless when you can't afford to eat.

That said, I hate the song too.

By Tom Jones, even though back in the day, I didn't mind watching him, or listening to him, sing anything. He was fine. That "she always knows her place" part in that song makes me cringe, no matter what the lyrical intent was.

The sock in the pants rumor destroyed Mr. Jones for me forever. Sad.
