...omg my daughter just got her driver's license...
She took me for a drive over to the little house I imagine myself in some day, then dropped me off at home and is - GAH! - driving around to visit friends.

Oh. Shit.

3. Well, she's in her boss' car and must return it by four.
Otherwise I probably wouldn't see her until tomorrow.

Bad Girl, kagehime!

6. Breathing heavily over here.
She is the most responsible girl in the world, or has been. This has GOT to be the time she screws up. Oh no! :scared:

10. I don't think so
if anything happens, it won't be because she's irresponsible. It would be because she lacks experience. But that's a big *IF*. She'll be fine.

Big changes at your house today.

8. Lord. Juergen, the "absent-minded son of a professor" only just recently
stopped walking into fire hydrants because he's forgotten where he is. He's fifteen. :eyes: It's going to be really bad news when he hits the road.

23. Exactly!
My son will be 14 next month. I hope our sturdy 12-year-old Volvo lasts a couple more years ;)
I keep reminding him it won't be like driving in those crazy video games where you fly over the opening in the drawbridge, crash into poles and trees, and your car repairs itself for the next spin!
He: :eyes:

11. I know that day is going to come faster than I think.
My boys are only 4 (the twins) and 6. My husband still thinks they are going to share a car when the time comes.

Congratulations to your daughter. :)

12. Thanks, fight4my3sons. It goes really, really fast.
I was reading one of the essays she's written for her college app., and thinking: I can't believe this. I NEVER thought the day would come and it's not only here, it'll be gone by tomorrow. Whew. Good luck to you!

21. always keep the phone charged, and always look in the back seat before getting in, lets see
always park near lights if she has to go out at night to the store, the less kids in the car when she is driving the better, they can be a distraction, don't let anyone drive her car other than the family, you would be amazed how many kids who don't have a car want to drive someone elses, etc etc etc...my kids have been driving for years and I still harp those rules on them..I pay the insurance.

16. Good, get her to run all those niggling little errands you used to have to run yourself.
If she wants the privilege, she ought to have to pay for it somehow, right? It could save you a lot of running around. B-)

20. if you have been carpooling and driving her to events all this time
you will be amazed at just how much time you will have on your hands! I walked around in the twilight zone when mine got their license. I felt like I was missing something, because I was always in the car taking someone somewhere.
