Life is full of uncertainty.
We silly human creatures love to pretend at a thing called 'control' and 'expectations' and whatnot, but it's a big sham. :(

Discuss.

8. lol, pretty much...
My husband (Zornhau) just left on a soul-searching kind of road trip for a couple months. Not sure what comes at the end of it, for him, for me, for us...

I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that the end of that trip finds you both revitalized and knowing that you need and want each other more than ever.

I wish nothing but the best for you both. :loveya: Hug:

Barring that, I'll hire Skittles to come over and kick both of your asses. Bet she'll do it for free. ;)

10. Yes, actually that is true.
We go through life wanting to control everything, and thinking we are in control, whereas in fact we are like leaves on the ocean, blown everywhere by the currents and the wind.

This is not an argument for fatalism. I am not saying you should not wear a seat belt in your car, for example. Actually it is a very deep philosophical problem; I have considered it at great length and still I have found no answers.

11. I agree...
You can steer the car, so to speak, but sometimes the road doesn't go where you expect it to. Do the best you can to live a happy life, be kind to others, leave the world better than you found it... :) thanks for the hug!

14. 'Control' is but an illusion
Those who need it will never be satisfied. Where they think they have it, it will escape them somewhere else, and they'll either pursue it there, fruitlessly, or be unhappy because they cannot reach it.

Those whom heaven helps we call the sons of heaven. They do not learn this by learning. They do not work it by working. They do not reason it by using reason. To let understanding stop at that which cannot be understood is a high attainment. Those who cannot do it will be destroyed on the lathe of heaven.

—Chuang Tse: XXIII

You know I :loveya: and wish for you all that you desire.

25. It's a line from a Lyle Lovett song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvDPezXTzlI

The last line of the intro is "Life is so uncertain."

It was the first thing that came to mind when I read the subject line of your post. :)

26. You still have my e-mail, right?
I've "kind of" figured out some of what's going on, but I just want you to know if you need someone to talk to in "real life" from a non-judgmental, been there and done that perspective, don't hesitate to drop me a line. My work hours are absolutely nutty, but we could always pop Phil and Anja on the playground, have some coffee and catch up. Life is crazy sometimes. For damn sure.
