:spray:

It seems that some of the funniest things that have ever happened to me have a mouse involved.

I once tried to flush what I thought was a dead mouse down the toilet (I know, but I was really young) and it came jumping out like the phoenix rising from the depths of the vortex. I screamed like a baby.

11. Zeus is almost 7 months old and Egypt is about 2 1/2.
Both of them came to me through rescue.

Zeus was a puppy mill baby who was blessedly near the top of the stack of cages. He went directly into rescue from there and was extremely timid and fearful since he had had no human contact for the first 4 months of his life. Now, you can hardly keep him off ya, and he is a major "I'm so happy I could pee" kind of dog - so watch your ankles.

Egypt was also a puppy mill baby but she was actually sent to a shelter before going into rescue. She was 2-3 days shy of being PTS when she was pulled. Again, weeks of rehab.

I love these little ones so much. They bring me such happiness.

...who isn't me or my wife. She can be friendly elsewhere.

Cattle Dogs are notoriously territorial, and Sadie never really got civilized, even after 13 years with us.

16. Rat Face began life as Miranda (for the character in "Grey's Anatomy")
We were trying to find her a home but fighting the very strong urge to keep her. I called her "Rat Face" in a silly attempt to make myself believe she was ugly, therefore undesirable.

Silly bertha. :dunce:

Now we call her Rat Face far more than we call her Miranda.

22. it went great
aside from possible gingivitis, she's a healthy, if overwieght, girl. She definitely did not like the whole experience, she cried when they stuck the thermometor up her butt and had tears rolling down her face
Usually she's looking around and meowing when in the carrier, but the ride back she was a silent curled up ball. Though as soon as we got to the porch, she immediately perked up and starting searching for the birds and was fine like nothing happened once we got inside. Of course I gave her an extra helping of treats, so that helped :-)

O'Malley and her littermates were named after Grey's Anatomy characters. Miranda, Izzy and Torres were the others' names.

Harry - Petey - Toby - Daddy - Cocoa - Moose - Smudge - Skittles - O'Malley - Rat Face - Mildred --- tame

Princess - Charley Girl - Angel - others unknown --- feral

Yup. Crazy cat lady indeed. But don't call the authorities. They are very well cared for. :hi:

24. I can barely keep up with two.
I was perfectly happy with a dog and a cat ... and then a street cat adopted us about a year ago. I tried to tell my wife not to feed it, but noooooo. It'd be cruel to feed it. Then I told her not to let it in the house, but noooooo. We couldn't leave it out in the rain. Then I told her not to keep it in the house, but noooooo. We were just going to hold onto her until we found someone who wanted her. Now I just sigh whenever the thing plops down in my lap and say, "Om my god, I cannot believe you live here." :P

41. It's clear he was someone's housecat. I'm sure he's not feral, but he's
certainly afraid of me & Mrs. V. But he meows when we talk to him, and he's let me pet him a little -- a very little before he walks away.

He was skin & bones when he first came to us, and he's filling out, but slowly.

Our house is clearly marked "FOOD AND CARE HERE" for any passing feline.

PS I just called him feral to put him in with our outdoor community, because tame or not he won't be a housecat.

Muffins (but commonly known as Miss Muffet)

To my deep shame, I realize that I do not have pictures of Mica on photobucket. I will rectify that as soon as I get home. To make up for it, here are my mother's cats:

Kira

and Sonya

who is better known as "evil psycho kitty". I personally prefer this image of her:

somehow I think it more accurately reflects her personality.

I'm cat-sitting both of them for the next week.

I smart enough to keep my distance (most of the time). She is definitely a one person cat, and I am clearly not that one person.

But out of all of the cats, she's probably the most willing to sit for a camera.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I only seem to have one rather poor quality photo of him on my computer, and my sister has walked off with my external hard drive of photos (something about anthropological research for a project) so I'll have to take more of Mica. But here is the one.

Honestly, I rarely catch him being photogenic. He has no idea the proper way to behave in front of a camera.

Here's a close up of Kira (in her Queen of All She Surveys role) to make up for it:

Siamese cats darken as they age. I don't know how long it takes. Being part Siamese, that might be why she got darker. Were-tabby - love it.

Petey was born pure white. His litter mates were tuxies. We had no idea he'd turn out Siamese.

48. The shelter said about 2 years old, but I think she was far younger
She still had that kind of gangly kitty adolescent build and (this is going to sound weird) she just didn't feel that old. All the cats we've ever had tended to feel more solid and muscular as they got older and she just wasn't like that then. I think she was probably closer to a year old when she came home with me.
